Nostalgic

A’s apartment makes me nostalgic. It was the first place he cooked for me. The place we fell in love. The place we celebrated our first Valentines, left for our first vacations, had so many of our wonderful first moments together.

But now we embark on a very important other first. Our first place.

This will be the place we decorate, celebrate our first holidays together, turn 30 together etc. This is the place we make a home together.

So while I am nostalgic for A’s place I am excited for this new place that already feels like home in so many ways. Tomorrow our bed and the last few pieces of our furniture gets moved in and then its officially the place we sleep.

Tonight we sleep our last night in A’s place that I called home for 8 months.

I cant wait to show you all our new place and if you follow me on Instagram you’ve already seen a few sneak peak pictures.

I promise next week Ill show more on the blog.

  1. So exciting! I love new beginnings – probably because I’ll be having a lot of my own soon! But it’s exciting to look forward and see what comes next. You’re going to LOVE your first place together!

We have been looking at houses but I think a part of why Keith is so hesitant is because this condo was his first everything, we lived here once married and have had a lot of memories here. But a new place would be ours totally so one day. Enjoy your last night!

Oh man, those are some great emotions. What an exciting time! When I moved out of my apartment and in with my then-fiance (now-husband), for our last dinner in my apartment, I made us a picnic in the spot where he proposed to me. It didn’t turn out as cute as I’d hoped (it was pretty much in the middle of the eating area), but I was a little sad to think that I’ll never step foot in that spot again. Cheers to memories in the making!

It is so hard to leave something behind that way. I had a hard time leaving my house in Virginia. My now deceased grandfather planted my trees there, my children made their first snowmen, and jumped in their first leaf piles there. But I no longer look back and miss the apartment my husband and I shared together, or his apartment before we moved into together. I love the quote you shared. It is something I strive to remember, and often forget, as a mother.

I felt the same way about Nate’s place when we moved in together. He lived there from 4 months after we met up until we moved in together this year. I cried when we moved him out. We can be cry babies together.
