Today miss Lindsey is guest posting while she is still a Miss. I have known Lindsey for over 2 years now and I just love her!!! We met under some interesting circumstances and Ill leave it at that….
Hey guys! I’m Lindsey! I blog over at Follow the Ruels, which chronicles my everyday life, including any baking or craft projects I find myself getting into to, as well as my wedding planning adventures.
I actually met the lovely Neely before I started blogging. Long, long before. I went to grad school with this guy she knew. You may have heard of him here on this blog, but he’s not important, so we will not speak of him. I have gotten a lot of blog inspiration from Neely over the past few years and am so happy to be featured here today.
As I mentioned, I am getting married. We are planning our wedding in San Diego, which is where I am from. And since Neely and A are planning a trip to my hometown, I thought I share some of my favorite places and things to do in America’s Finest City.
My favorite place to watch the sunset: Sunset Cliffs
The name speaks for itself. The cliffs that sit on the western-most side of Point Loma offer an unobstructed view of the sunset. The waves breaking on the cliffs are just icing on the cake.
My favorite California burrito: Lucha Libre’s Surfin’ Californian
This
place opened after I moved away, but it was featured on Travel
Channel’s Man vs. Food so B and I had to try it on a trip back. It. Was.
Amazing. One of the best burrito’s I’ve ever had.

My favorite place to go for a run: around the Harbor
The harbor extends from the Downtown area all the way over to the Point Loma peninsula. One long continuous view of the bay. It really doesn’t get much better.
My favorite place to shop: Fashion Valley Mall
This open air mall (as most malls in San Diego are) is located in Mission Valley and has everything from JCPenny to Bloomingdales.
My favorite lunch spot: Con Pane Bakery
There will probably be a line out the door, but that just means that it is THAT good. They bake their own bread and make awesome sandwiches. You must get the Turkey Cobb on Rosemary Olive Oil bread or the Adult Grilled Cheese.
La Jolla Shores is much more tame and family friendly. Pacific Beach (the locals call it PB) is a younger crowd. Think spring break and college kids. But Pacific Beach is much bigger and goes on for miles, so you can carve out your own little spot in the sand.My favorite beach: (tie) Pacific Beach or La Jolla Shores
My favorite outdoor activity: Kayaking at La Jolla Cove
You can rent some kayaks at La Jolla shores or make friends with a local that owns one. Take off from the shores and paddle all the way over to the cove (you can see the cove in the picture above). Bring a snorkel along to see some pretty cool ocean life.
My favorite dinner with a view: C-Level
This restaurant is located on one end of Shelter Island, which is right across from the airport. You must sit on the patio, and if you are lucky you will get a table that site right on the water and has an amazing view of Downtown.

My favorite place to bar crawl: the Gaslamp district
The Gaslamp is probably the only part of Downtown you really want to go to. One long stretch of restaurants and bars.
My favorite breakfast after a long night out: Hash House A-Go-Go
Located in the Hilcrest neighborhood, this restaurant is known for it’s oversized portions including pancakes the size of pizzas. The perfect place to cure a hangover.
My favorite amusement park: the San Diego Zoo
San Diego actually has a few amusement parks: the Zoo, Sea World, and Legoland. But the Zoo is by far the best. You could spend a whole day there and see all sorts of animals. They don’t call it world famous for nothing.

My favorite place for culture: Balboa Park
The San Diego Zoo is actually part of Balboa park which is a huge cultural center. It has a number of museums, theaters, and gardens. It is a great place to some time outside just walking around.
I could seriously go on and on. If you are planning a trip there any time soon (or even a year from now), feel free to shoot me any questions you might have or if you want some recommendations. I love talking about San Diego!!
In the mean time, you can find me on Twitter, Bloglovin, and Pinterest.

This post is perfect. My boyfriend and I are planning our trip to San Diego for next month. I love all the tips.
Great tips! I want to visit the West Coast!
