Typical Weekday Morning

I am always fascinated by people’s daily lives. I always have been. My favorite blog posts to read are when people just talk about their weekends, what they eat in a day, etc. Today I am am sharing my typical weekday morning with you guys. I would love to hear what yours is like too.

I don’t know about you guys, but some days it’s hard to get out of bed in the morning. My morning starts when Andrew’s alarm goes off at 6 AM. I work from home, and my schedule is usually flexible, so I tend to avoid getting up for a little while. However, I am trying to be better about going ahead and getting up when his alarm goes off.

I tend to start my morning by checking my phone. While this is pretty common for me, it’s also a way to slowly wake myself up and see what I missed while I was sleeping. I mark articles I find interesting to read later in the day (usually while I am eating breakfast or lunch). Then, I jump out of bed (more like begrudgingly roll) and head to the sink.

Then it’s time to wash my face, brush my teeth, and all the stuff that pretty much everyone does right when they wake up. I follow this up with drinking about 16 oz of lemon water. This has been a lifesaver with my skin, and making me feel energized in the morning! I usually grab it before I head to the bathroom, or Andrew will get it for me when he’s making breakfast.

Then I head to the kitchen. I usually put my phone on the counter, and put on either a podcast or Spotify to listen to while I am making breakfast. Most mornings I either throw together oatmeal or my recent favorite breakfast, which is some sort of scrambled eggs and toast. Some of my favorite memories as a child were sitting in the kitchen while my mom cooked breakfast, and chatting with her or helping her. Eggs were the first things I learned how to cook. Yes, they are super easy, but they are also extremely healthy, high in protein, and great for you!

I love taking Lone Star Eggs, toast, and sugar-free jam to have a really simple breakfast.

When I scramble eggs, I usually add a little skim milk, salt, pepper, and either light non fat cheese or spinach. Today I was in a rush and just did basic scrambled eggs. While my eggs are cooking I popped two slices of whole wheat bread into my toaster. By the way, a four slice toaster is the greatest when two people are making breakfast. I added a little sugar-free strawberry jelly to it and scooped my eggs on a plate. Yes this is an easy breakfast and most people wouldn’t explain how they made it, but hey you just never know. I recently met a girl who had never made grilled cheese before and she was 33. It happens guys.

(by the time I realized I should have taken a picture of the breakfast I had gobbled it up…so good)

While I eat breakfast I check my email again, respond to blog emails(always first before personal) and share my recent blog post on all forms of social media and several Facebook blogging groups I am in.

I then clean up my breakfast and go about my morning. Usually by this time it’s around 7 or 7:15. I try to leave for the gym by 8. I am gone most of the morning at the gym, running errands, and then meetings.

This is what my typical weekday morning looks like about 90% of the time. What about you?

Thank you Lone Star Eggs for sponsoring this post.

  1. Mornings….they are the death of me. My 4 month old wakes up anytime between 7am-8am and it is diaper change, feed, burp, repeat until his sister wakes up. I then get her breakfast and maybe get something for myself if the baby gives me a chance! If I am lucky, like today, the baby takes an early nap and I can get some work done 🙂

Looks like a relaxing morning! For my typical weekday morning- wake up around 6:30-7pm, blog for about 3 hours, workout (if I’m motivated) and then I commute an hour to class!

  3. My mornings are so unorganized! I’m terrible about waking up in the morning, so Dave usually has to push me out of bed! I try to shower at night, since I know I will only get up early enough 30% of the time. The first thing we do is eat breakfast together and watch the news. Then I wash my face, brush my teeth, do my makeup, do my hair, etc. I get dressed, make coffee and head out the door, hopefully on time!

I am up around 6:00 and out of the house around 7:15 with two little girls most mornings. Ours are rush, rush, rush to get everyone where they need to be and on time. Saturdays and Sundays are a little more relaxed. Since the girls never get to eat at home during the week, I always make them breakfast on the weekends.

  5. I wake up and am usually coherent around 5 am, I check my phone, I do a Christian devotional, I get up and do chores or workout, my son gets up at 6:30, and there is some measure of TIVO watching in there. It all gets done eventually :).

We’re usually rushing around until my son goes to kindergarten . Then, I sneak breakfast while the twins are playing, and we head to the gym.

Our moments go by in a blur, but yes they are so significant. I read memoirs so I totally know what you mean. It is also an exercise in expression to share it with others. Thanks and your breakfast sound similar to ours!

I’m typically rushing around in the morning because I’ve hit snooze one too many times. I really need to get better about establishing a morning routine.

  13. I kind of hate mornings. I’m learning to be a morning person (kinda) because I have no choice, but I actually hate it.
