Winter Struggles

This post is sponsored by Curél® in partnership with Socialstars however all opinions are my own #CurelSkinCare

I love the winter months. I do, I swear I do, but man there are some struggles that I feel are more prevalent in the winter than other times of year. Winter struggles are real….

Appropriate clothing: Working from home I tend to wear workout clothes a lot of the time. I leave my house everyday to go to the gym and then run errands, so I try to dress warm but also have clothes that are easy to take on and off at the gym as far as extra layers go. I have found that workout leggings, a tank top, a long sleeve shirt, a fleece or jacket and then socks and sneakers are the best for this. I also throw on an ear warmer if it’s really cold out or if I am going for a run.
Dry Itchy Skin: I have super dry and itchy skin in the winter. The last few weeks it’s been almost unbearable. I make sure to keep my skin moisturized at all times. I not only have dry skin but I have a touch of eczema that gets bad in the winter. Curél® products have really really helped this. Changing up my routine for the winter is really important to ensure my skin stays as moisturized as possible. I start in the shower with the Curél® Itch Defense® Body Wash which is amazing for dry, itchy skin and for people with eczema. It combines gentle cleansers an skin conditioners to gently soothe and cleanse itchy skin. There are no added fragrances, and it’s got an amazing non-irritating formula. After that I use the Curél® Itch Defense® Lotion to moisturize post-shower. It soothes eczema prone skin and is even gentle enough for babies six months and up. That’s a product I can get behind! Throughout the day if I notice my skin feeling a little dry or itchy I also use Curél® Itch Defense® Instant Soothing Moisturizing Spray. It instantly cools, calms, and soothes dry, itchy skin while helping to improve skin’s natural moisture barrier. These three products combined are my lifesavers in the winter months because my EXTREMELY sensitive skin is so prone to becoming dry and itchy.

The temptations of sweets

: With this time of year comes the temptations of sweets everywhere you go. I was at Whole Foods recently and I had to remove myself for the fear I would buy every bag of white chocolate peppermint pretzels. The ones at Whole Foods are addictive. Then my mom had me pick something up for her at a bakery and again the sweets temptations. I have zero self control. I find that in the summer months these things do not tempt me because I am very aware of how often I am in a bathing suit. But in the winter months where everything is covered in layers it’s easier to cheat and want to snack on sweets.

Being Lazy

: Those days where it is stupid cold out make you just want to couch potato it up and be ridiculously lazy. AMIRITE? At least for me I am so much more tempted to curl up on the couch with a fire going, blankets, a book, and hot cocoa rather than be productive. I find the easiest way to avoid this is making daily to do lists. If I have a list of things I need to accomplish I will do them until everything is done and then reward myself with a lazy evening on the couch. Win Win.

Winter struggles are easy to come by but also easy to combat if you know the right ways to do so!

Do you have any of these same winter struggles?

I hear you on ALL these struggles! Haha Winter is so beautiful some days, but most of the time I’m fighting a cold or dry skin or trying not to eat a million cookies! Good luck with combatting your struggles this season. 🙂

White chocolate anything (minus berries) is my temptation this time of year. Oh, and I swear by Curél’s Itch Defense Lotion. My eczema acts up a bit during the summer and that seems to be the only thing that soothes and moisturizes my skin.

  9. Frequent bathing or hot showers can strip our skin of natural oils.I personally avoid deodorant bars, antibacterial soaps, perfumed soaps, and use only revitol skin care products containing no alcohol, it is a good moisturizer for my body. Limit your showers or baths to not more than 10 minutes, pat dry, and moisturize while your skin is still damp.
