Cold days…dry hands….itchy skin….chapped lips. Any of this sound familiar? Well we are on the onset of the colder months and with that means winter is coming, and those things listed above are inevitable. Every year this happens and every year I feel unprepared. This year however I am on top of things and I have put together an amazing winter survival kit. This winter survival kit is a sure fire way to make it through the cold months with minimal damage.
First of all, I always have some amazing lip products on hand. Even if I carry a small clutch I try to have a few of my go to lip products. My favorite high-end is La Mer lip balm which is a godsend but very expensive. If you are looking for an amazing drug store lip product I always love Softlips and Burts Bees. The soft lips vanilla mint is AHHHH-mazing! I keep some in my car, by my bed, and in my purse for easy access whenever the dry lips strike.
Having the right clothes is an obvious choice, but have the right accessories can sometimes be forgotten. Two things that really help you survive winter are good gloves. I personally love the ones I have from Lululemon because they are texting gloves and I can keep them on while using my phone. I also have a great pair from Jcrew. I also really love ear warmers. I have a few cute ones from Francesca’s and a Northface one I use for work outs.
Next, I make sure to keep my skin moisturized at all times. I not only have dry skin but I have a touch of eczema that gets bad in the winter. Curél® products have really really helped this. Changing up my routine for the winter is really important to ensure my skin stays as moisturized as possible. I start in the shower with the Curél® Itch Defense® Body Wash which is amazing for dry, itchy skin and for people with eczema. It combines gentle cleansers an skin conditioners to gently soothe and cleanse itchy skin. There are no added fragrances, and it’s got an amazing non-irritating formula. After that I use the Curél® Itch Defense® Lotion to moisturize post-shower. It soothes eczema prone skin and is even gentle enough for babies 6 months and up. That’s a product I can get behind! Throughout the day if I notice my skin feeling a little dry or itchy I also use Curél® Itch Defense® Instant Soothing Moisturizing Spray. It instantly cools, calms, and soothes dry, itchy skin while helping to improve skin’s natural moisture barrier. These three products combined are my lifesavers in the winter months because my EXTREMELY sensitive skin is so prone to becoming dry and itchy.
Lastly, I cozy up with hot cocoa or tea constantly. I am obsessed with the Swiss Miss K cups and Twinings Pure Chamomile Tea K cups. These are so easy to pop in during the day and have while I work and before bed. Andrew and I are huge fans of hot cocoa and it always feels like such a treat. If you are looking for a go to drink in the cooler months, those two are must haves!
So it’s pretty simple, but keeping these products on hand during the cooler months is my own personal winter survival kit and making your own winter survival kit is something I highly suggest doing!
What is your go to winter survival kit item?

I will seriously try anything! I’ve been using Udder Cream for a while now but I’m still getting dry skin! I just recently got a whole bunch of Curel coupons so I will totally check them out! I also never leave the house without some form of Soft lips product! They really work! =)

Glad to know about the Swiss Miss K Cups. The Keurig is one of the best inventions ever.
Winter is the ACTUAL worst. I wish fall would stay forever!
I love, love, love your blog! 🙂 Just came across it from the Peony Proj 🙂 Cannot wait to follow along! I agree with all of these things to put on your winter survival guide 😉
OMG I really need to try the itch defense lotion! My legs get soooo itchy come winter time and I had no clue there was a special lotion for this! Thank you so much for sharing! It is going on my grocery list now!
Itch defense! That’s something that I need 🙂
I am the queen of winter dry lips. I will lose my crown this year! Thanks Neely!
I was just saying to one of my friends that my hands are already dry and October isn’t even over yet! It’s the worst!!
I love myself a good pair of ear muffs! My hands always tend to be cold, so I am always on the lookout for a new pair of mittens. Thanks for sharing!
Nice! I didn’t know Curel made a body wash. I have to get some ASAP. My hands get sooooo chapped in the winter and my skin is just beyond dry. Great product list. Thanks!
I need that body wash in my life! I might have to pick up a bottle (or two) the next time I’m in a store. Oh, and I can get behind any list with Swiss Miss on it.
Yes to all the chapstick!
My lips stay forever chapped in the winter.

I get horribly dry skin on my hands every winter. I mean like nasty, dry, cracked and literally splitting skin on my hands and knuckles. I have tried so many lotions and almosr none of them relieve my symptoms! I am going to try that Curel ones you talked about. Maybe that will do the trick!
Thanks!

I’m in for anything that cures my horribly dry, itchy skin in the winter. Colorado weather stinks in the winter.
I love love love Burts Bees!!
I’ll definitely have to check Curel out! In the mean time, I’m all over that hot chocolate. 🙂
