Well the simple answer is working out always helps. The more complicated answer is what works is different for everyone.
I do a lot of different things but I always workout 5-6 times a week unless sick or hurt. I listen to my body. If Im sore I dont workout that day, if Im sick I dont work out that day.
I do cardio 5 times a week. Running, stair-master, and elliptical. Also on cardio days I alternate between arm workouts, leg workouts and ab, back and butt workouts. I usually do the latter 4 times a week and the other two twice a week.
I also mix in crossfit once a week(Im back at it…yeahhhh!) I also bought a yoga groupon to a studio I havent been to before so maybe ill love it there.
I do pilates at my gym sometimes once a week and lately Ive been alternating between spin and kickboxing. I love the kickboxing class but its an ass kicker!
I try to mix it up as much as possible because your body needs to be tricked. If it gets too used to the same stuff it wont work!!
I still see my trainer but now only twice a month.
I also do a lot of stretches. Usually twice a day. Before my workout and much later after my workout. Its very important that if you are trying to build muscle you shouldnt drink alcohol within 12 hours of working out. According to my trainer/nutritionist.
I also enjoy walks which is a great way to add a little more workout to your day.
I am by no means any kind of expert these are just the things I do and what works for me. I enjoy working out and it makes me feel good. I know with the new year people make resolutions to work out or work out and more but you should find workouts you enjoy!

I LOVE pilates! It’s definitely my favorite. It’s effective but I never feel like my muscles are ripping apart after class.
Also, take a nice long walk for me sometime soon in your warm weather. It’s 12 degrees outside right now. Yippee! 🙂
I can’t wait for warmer weather.. I just got a puppy and he loves to run around, but it’s a little to cold for her right now.
You are going to have to help motivate me to get back to pre baby weight this summer!
Thanks for posting Neely! I used to be so addicted to working out…6 days a week and if I missed I felt so guilty! I taught circuit training and I just loved it!
Now that I moved to hickville there is nothing like that around here. I joined a gym but it’s just not the same…I get so bored running on a treadmill or elliptical. I get to like 2 miles and I’m like okay, this is boring I’m done now.
I love lifting weights too, but for some reason feel so self conscious at my gym. There usually are just like 3 guys lifting weights and no one else, so it’s not like a whole bunch of people are staring at me,I just feel like the wannabe body builders are judging everything I do like, Oh why is she doing that? That doesn’t work. or She is doing that wrong. I know it’s so stupid but I just can’t get used to a normal gym.
It’s so frustrating because I hate not being as in shape!
Now that I’ve got the eating thing working, I really need to add some of these things to the list! I’m thinking 3 times a week though 🙂
This is awesome!! You rock!
You go girl!! You are such an inspiration!!
Damn girl! Come be my personal trainer? 😀
I need to work my on stretching, I don’t do it nearly enough! I have that slight obsession of working out, 6 days a week, and normally don’t even rest of my day “off”. Working out is such a stress reliever! Thanks for posting this!
I couldn’t agree more – it’s all about variety for me! I run four times a week, but build in a Bar Method class and lots of strength! You are FIERCE, girl!
Girl, you are like my God when it comes to working out. I wish I just could get motivated…working out is definitely not a thing I enjoy, at all.
I love spin classes! I so can’t wait to start working out again! After the move, I will have so much more time to do so!
