I have talked before about how to make money blogging and that was mainly a post about sponsored posts and affiliate links. Today I want to delve more into easy ways to make money from your blog that don’t necessarily mean sponsored posts or affiliates. So these are things you can do by leveraging your blog no matter how many page views you have or social media followers.
- Sell Stuff: Maybe you could make coffee mugs, cute t-shirts, stickers, monogram decals, or custom prints. The options are endless! SO many bloggers have cute shops on Etsy, or even right through their blogs or Instagram accounts where they sell stuff. If you have always wanted to design mugs, or t-shirts, or anything really do it!
- Market A Service: Do you do graphic/website designs? Are you amazing at SEO? So many bloggers offer services like blog design, Photoshop help, blog courses, consultations, etc. This is a great way to make some money. There are so many bloggers at different stages of blogging and we are all constantly learning. Not all of us are great at everything. I can’t design or code for crap. So I hire out for that. If you are awesome at something I highly suggest marketing that service!
- Freelance Writing: There are tons of publications that want freelance writers. Huge magazines, websites, newspapers, etc. Using your blog writing skills, social media savvy, etc you can score some great freelance writing gigs. Where to start? Think of websites, newspapers, and magazines you like and see if they are looking for freelance writers. Some of them may even have full time writing positions available!
- Virtual Assistant: A great way to make money as a blogger is to be a virtual assistant for another blogger or a few other bloggers. This could include things like sharing their posts, commenting on posts from other bloggers, helping manage social media, helping manage emails, the options are endless. A lot of VA’s that I know make anywhere between $10- $25 per hour. You can also do a lot of this work on a very flexible schedule. So if you have another job, or kids, or maybe several part time jobs this would be perfect. Plus you are using your skills you have learned from blogging and social media and making a lot of connections. It’s a win win win for everyone.

I don’t have time to be a VA, but I definitely hire them when I travel. They make good money for sure.
The VA sounds interesting and I know several who write and blog for other people.
These are great tips! I started my shop before my blog, but there’s definitely a cohesiveness between the two that helps me sell products and helps my readership grow.
Great ideas! I always wish I was more creative when it came to cute stuff like mugs and t-shirts and what not. I had never heard of VAs until I joined this crazy blogging world. And hats off to those who do it, because keeping up with my own stuff is challenging. I can’t imagine doing it for others!
I JUST heard about the virtual assistant route last week, but I didn’t really know much about it. I was so excited to read what you had to say about that, and I need to look into!
I would love to get into freelance writing but have no clue where to even look!
These are great tips! I love the idea of opening a shop associated with the blog.
Great ideas! Hopefully one day I can afford to pay someone to do my social media!
Great ideas. I never thought of being a virtual assistant before
Great ideas, for sure! I’ve really been wanting to get into some freelance and VA work for some extra income, but it just seems so overwhelming that I just keep pushing it down on my todo list…
I’ve been thinking a lot about stocking my Etsy shop with things I blog about. My affiliate links haven’t really produced the income I was hoping for. Time to try a new approach!
I don’t know that I’d call them ‘easy’ as they all require a bit of work and dedication. However, they all could be done by most anyone!
These are some great ideas, I really need to try and branch out into some more areas such as VA and freelancing. x
I have never heard of a virtual assistant but that is pretty cool! I mean, it’s pretty necessary these days, what with all the engagement that is necessary.

Wonderful ways to make money! I didn’t think about the VA one, but I feel like I need to hire one because it’s getting so difficult to keep up with all my social media accounts when I have 2 little ones + my online shop to tend to.

Great ideas! I am currently working on #3, so we will see how it goes!
Hey Neely! I’ve been interested in doing the VA thing for awhile, but I’m not sure were to look for people that are hiring. Do you know where to go to find those jobs?
Thanks for this great list! Now I’m starting to consider looking for VA jobs… You’ve definitely given me some good food for thought.

Ohhh I like the idea of writing and VA! Very interesting. You shed light on new perspectives for me! Thank you!!
Great post full of awesome ideas! Thanks for sharing this! 🙂
These are great ideas! I love seeing everyone’s etsy shops and adorable instagram posts of things they’re making and selling. Honestly, I’d rather support small businesses! These are all great tips I need to give some thought to.
I am just starting to figure out what my Niche is for monetizing. These are some great solutions. 🙂
I’ve heard of Virtual Assistants before but never really pursued it because I thought it was mostly for people scheduling appointments, booking flights and that sort of thing, which I have no interest in doing, but I didn’t know you could manage other people’s social media accounts! If so, I definitely might need to check into that because that’s something I would love doing. Any tips for going into that field?
These are all great tips! Im currently working on my first ebook to sell on my site!
Great post with simple tips! Do you know how VAs typically market themselves? Is there a specific network or do they reach out to bloggers directly?
Thanks!
I have been hearing a lot about VA’s…sounds interesting if you have the time.
I would love to be a freelance writer. That’s one of the things I’ll be looking into a little more once I really get my blog running smoother. These are all fantastic ideas!
Love these great ideas! I’m just getting my blog up and running, and really want to focus on content for now. But writing is what I’m most passionate about, so it would be a dream to earn a small living doing just that!
I love the ideas! They’re not the standard “put an ad on your blog” or “write sponsored posts” ideas…very refreshing!
I’m working at getting started as a VA and doing some freelance writing. Great post!
These ideas are great! I’ve never even thought or heard of some. Thanks for sharing!
Great ideas! What I didn’t realize at first is that being a blogger and learning how to maintain my own blog as seriously helped me help my clients!
This is SO helpful, thank you!
I know several bloggers who VA on the side. It’s definitely lucrative if you’re efficient.
Awesome ideas! I’ve actually been thinking about some of these lately 🙂
I’m just starting to do freelance writing for other blogs and companies. It’s a good gig but can be really difficult to land!
I’ve been interested in doing some work as a VA for awhile. I really need to look into that.
I love the idea of a virtual assistant. What’s the typical cost to pay someone to do that? Because I need that kind of assistance at times! This is a great post & you’ve definitely outlined a lot of great points here. Kudos! xx adaatude.com
Great ideas! Sometimes we forget that making money from blogging doesn’t have to be difficult. Thanks for sharing!
Great ideas! I want to start offering services soon because I am a social media manager in my day job so I think I could definitely help some others out.
xoxo, Jenny
Great tips! I need a VA bad!
Wow, very informative post! I’d really love to hire a VA someday soon…it would be nice to get help with everyday blogging duties 🙂
I loved this post. I’d love to be a VA once I figure out how to balance my busy life. So I’m defintely taking baby steps hopefully I reach that point in life.
These are great ideas! I sell products and offer a service and both are really starting to pick up which is nice.
LiveLifeWell,
Allison
At some point in my blogging career I’ve done all of these things and I agree, they can all be great ways to bring in extra income!
Such great tips!! I want to start offering a product!
The convenience of hiring a VA is the best move I have done! I get more time to write! There are a few good VAs out there who are experts in social media management. You can either pay them by the hour or by the day. It is definitely a win-win partnership!
Great ideas. I’m working on some products I can sell that will be good for my readers. I just need more time in the day haha.
I keep meaning to try becoming a VA. Thanks for the tips.
Unfortunately, there’s really no such thing as an “easy” way to make money blogging. All of these methods take a significant amount of work. In the beginning, there’s the work that you put into having people discover your services, your shop, etc. And the work itself is time consuming.
I am definitely working on creating my own services! I have just started dabbling in sponsored posts and they are great, but I worry about how they affect my pageviews. Love your suggestions!
You make it sound sooo easy!! I really started blogging because I love it, but making money off of it would be nice as well.

Great ideas!! I freelance and do some side work that involves blogging, definitely worth the time! 🙂
Wow this website is so good thanks for all the tips!
