Things I’ve Learned From The Hills

So I won’t lie I love to rewatch The Hills. A lot. I do not know what my fascination with this show is. Even though the show is pretty stupid you can learn a lot from LC and crew.

1. Sometimes you should keep your opinions to yourself and let your friends make their own mistakes with guys. I went through a major issue like this when I was 25. I told my then best friend what I thought about her getting back together with a guy who point blank said he would never marry her. Result: She stopped talking to me. You know who else had this issue? Miss Conrad. Yep. Then she kind of had it again but made the wise choice to keep her opinions to yourself.

2. Own up to what you do in life: If you do something that isn’t on par with what you should be doing. Or if you do something bad you need to own up to it. Or as Miss Conrad says

3. Relationships either romantic or friendships end for a reason. There is a reason someone isn’t in your life anymore. It is not necessarily your fault, their fault etc. Sometimes people grow apart even friends. You may think someone is a great friend and you get to know them and realize they weren’t your friend ever. Not a true friend. With romantic relationships if it isn’t worth working for, if it doesn’t feel natural and easy than it isn’t right.

4. The truest people in your life want what’s best for you. They lift you up, they support you, they are your biggest cheerleaders. You don’t need tons and tons of peripheral friends to feel good about yourself. Having your family, and a few close friends who are really great to you and for you and really get you and support you is the best.

5. You have to be a friend too: When you have friendships you have to be a friend. Sounds simple right? It is not. YOU have to put the time, effort and energy into getting to know someone. You can’t expect someone else to do all the work and be the great friend. As we get older making friends is harder but you have to be a friend. Remember at the end of the day you get what you put out there.

6. Sometimes it’s OK to be selfish and put yourself first. If you aren’t your best everyday you won’t be your best for everyone else.

Yes I know I am 30 but what can I say I love the Hills and they do teach you some valuable life lessons. In their own narcissistic, ridiculous ways.

Do you or did you watch The Hills?

omg when I saw what this post was about I was already in love! I too love LC and The Hills and Laguna Beach!!! I haven’t watched in ages but I think last Summer I rewatched during MTV’s Retro something….and watching it over as an older person (30 at the time) really opens your eyes. And I must say I am soooo thankful I’m past those stages in my life! Learning life lessons indeed.

OMG I think we should be sisters. I love the Hills and do rewatch it when I can. Something about watching it is totally relaxing and necessary to life. I love the team LC and her life lessons. It’s so fun to watch. It was good to know we were not the only ones betrayed by friends and dumped by men. It happened even to the pretty successful girls. Love LC and how she built her empire of success. Have you read her style and beauty – fiction series books?
I do have to fast forward thru spidi they are so stupid and creepy.

I was watching She’s The Man the other day with my sister and they had a preview for the second season of Laguna Beach on DVD, oy, that made me feel old, she was all like what is that show? I told her about it and she just kind of rolled her eyes. Laguna/The Hills was our age groups Jersey Shore I guess, & I’d much rather watch LC and company than Snooki any day of the week!
