Healthy Summer Snacks

I know summer doesn’t officially start until later in June but I honestly start summer in my mind around Memorial Day if not before. One of the best parts of summer is all the amazing fruits and yummy things available to snack on! Today I am sharing my favorite healthy summer snacks that you should most definitely try!

1. Yogurt and Fruit: I think this is a great snack all year round but in the summer when strawberries taste EXTRA good I love to get some plain greek yogurt and top strawberries, blueberries and raspberries on it. If you put a little honey or brown sugar it’s extra good.

2. Green Juice: I have been on a juice kick lately. I have been doing green smoothies for about 5 years (daily for 5 years I kid you not) and I do love it but sometimes it’s a little too heavy for me. So after stopping at the juice bar in Dallas almost daily I finally started making them at home. My favorite combo is cucumber, apple, celery, kale, spinach and blueberries. Throw them in your juicer or for me my vitamix for about 3-4 minutes on high and voila enough juice for about 3 days. It’s super easy and healthy!

3. Fruit and Cheese plate: Somedays for lunch when I don’t know what I want or if I just need a good afternoon snack while I work I will make a mish mash plate of random. Usually it consists of apples, berries, and grapes along with cheese, maybe some turkey slices, or hummus! Really filling but also very healthy!

4. Carrots and hummus: OK I love hummus like I would probably only eat hummus if I could but I love mixing plain hummus with carrots, celery, cucumber and more.

5. No bake granola bars: I have made no bake granola bars several times and I have a new recipe coming up soon(keep an eye out) but I absolutely love making these and they are so easy and healthy and most likely you already have most of the ingredients in your house!

Not gonna lie, my favorite thing about summer is all the fresh fruits and things I can make with them. I love berries and yogurt, and smoothies, but haven’t tried juices yet. Carrots and hummus is a great protein snack for long days at work!

I mean… I’d rather have a donut 😉 But a green juice is good too when I’m trying to eat less donuts. I’ve been making smoothies in the morning and it’s like drinking a milkshake, but healthy. Win win!
