The Little Things

The Little Things

via

Happy Monday my sweet sweet friends! I had a very productive and busy weekend but it has me feeling very go go go today which is great. I noticed over the weekend that random little things would make me smile and just give me a happy feeling. I wanted to share the little things in life that we all may take for granted some days or at least I do.

– Being able to relax on a Sunday afternoon with a good book for 4 hours while burning an all too soon pumpkin pie candle.

– The feeling of happiness when I went into bath and body works only to discover that the Fall candles had made their appearance. I picked up 5 candles, and 4 foaming hand soaps all in Fall scents and it immediately put me in a great mood.

– Seeing how seamless it is when my parents and Andrews parents get together and we all get to have dinner at one of our favorite Dallas restaurants. Such a relaxing and fun meal with my favorite people.

– Realizing that in 2.5 months my best friend will be in Dallas for a LONG overdue visit and we get to see the Taylor Swift concert! BONUS the same weekend as that the unauthorized 90210 story airs on lifetime.

– Feeling really good about 2 weekend workouts. It is the second week in a row I have worked out everyday including weekends. My entire personality changes after a workout. Even if I woke up in the worst of moods I immediately feel better after.

– The sheer joy I get  pinning outfits on Pinterest, or designs for something VERY exciting coming soon to the blog!

– When my husband fills up my water tumbler before I get home from book club or if I am busy doing stuff around the house and just taking that extra pre bed step away from me. He is so thoughtful and the little things like that really remind me how amazing he is. Add in the sweet notes he still after almost 3 years leaves in coffee mugs, on my keurig, in my laptop, on my desk in my office etc and my heart melts.

The little things are the things we take advantage of so often. The things we forget to acknowledge even though they make not be huge life altering events they are things that in that moment make us happy. These are the things we should hold on to when days are hard or we feel like we are getting a crap end of a deal because we are stuck in traffic. The little things by far out weigh the mundane ridiculous things we spend too much time and energy focusing on.

Happy Monday!

  1. What book are you reading?? I finished THREE books this weekend and it was glorious. I just have to type up their reviews today and tomorrow. 🙂 And I woke up this morning and it totally feels like fall, which is just fine, but man- it’s like as soon as August rolls around it’s all over. At least where I live. 🙂

Neely, my weekend was much the same, lots of special time with my hubby. We started our day with a three hour boat tour to see wildlife and lighthouses along the coast in Maine. We are happy to be away from the Texas heat!

I love posts like this and really need to start thinking about adding this as a weekly thing to my blog. It’s always nice to have little reminders that life really is good and that all the complaining we do is not really necessary! Thanks for sharing!

  9. First of all, you and Andrew. THE CUTEST. Notes keep a relationship going strong, I tell ya!
Second, TOTALLY WITH YOU on the fall scents already! I’m so glad I’m not alone. You feel me, as usual.
Third, what I would give for four hours with a pumpkin pie candle (and just pie) and a good book…I’m jealous! Come have a girlcation with me in Philly???

Such a great post. I love it when my brain takes in the little things that make life better. The smell of candles always makes me better too. I really love the toasted marshmallow one, puts me in a great mood instantly. I have been missing the gym these last few days and cannot wait to go back. PS you and your husband sound like the cutest couple EVER! Keep it going.

Fall fever hasn’t hit me yet, but as soon as I smell a pumpkin candle or another Fall scented anything, it’s all over for me! Way to keep your consistent exercise routine!

I miss candles! With 4 dogs and a cat in the house, it’s just too dangerous. I do use wax melts though on an electric burner and I LOVE them 🙂 So sweet that your husband leaves you notes!
