I somehow always get sick this time of year. I think in part due to weather, but I also think it’s the constant go go go of the holiday season. I just get worn down. Anyone else? Today I want to share my secrets to feel your best during the holidays. Because who wants to miss out on holiday fun? Not me!

Feel Your Best During The Holidays
Learn To Say No: OK so this is a controversial place to start, but hear me out. You can’t say yes to everything and everyone or you will wear yourself down. This is so hard for me. I never want to miss out on fun things, but sometimes you just have to for your own good. Sleep and relaxing are sometimes more needed than that extra happy hour or night out. Your friends will understand and always be there. Plus for me, family comes first, so if I have a lot of family obligations friend stuff always has to be a game time decision.
Keep It Clean: WASH YOUR HANDS! So many germs in malls, grocery stores, restaurants, even Starbucks. WASH THOSE HANDS. I mean all the time! I also carry hand sanitizer with me everywhere. If I leave the ATM, the gas station, grocery store, etc I first things first put sanitizer on my hands. No one wants to get sick! GROSS!
Vitamin Up: Not only is it important to take a daily multi-vitamin, but try something like Ricola Herbal Immunity Lozenges too! They harness the power of herbs, ginseng and vitamins B6, B12 and C to boost immunity strength and fight fatigue. AKA the things that you NEED to survive the holidays. I carry them with me everywhere and they are a huge lifesaver. I have traveled a lot recently and since planes are full of recirculating germs I was popping these babies like it was my job! They are available in two varieties: Honey Herb and Citrus Herb, and are available at CVS, Walgreens, and Rite-Aid stores nationwide. Vitamins B6 and B12 aid the body in most efficiently using energy; they do so by playing an essential role when carbohydrates are converted into glucose. Glucose is needed to stay alert, as it is our main source of energy and are also a main ingredient in these drops. So basically the drops are magical magical things.

Keep Up With The Usuals: Sleep, Exercise, Healthy Eating, Drinking Water. The things we stress over and over that are important to stay healthy can easily fall to the wayside during the holidays. We are just so busy and man those holiday treats are so good! Just remember that balance is important and enough sleep, proper diet, tons of water, and consistent exercise will help you feel your best during the holidays.
What is your key to feel your best during the holidays? Tell me!

Great tips! I try to make sure I am getting enough sleep…and not consuming too much…alcohol…sugar…etc.
I love Ricola! I was sick recently and used them, they helped tremendously.
Yes! I keep a stash of these under my sink in the cabinet for when I really need it! Something that helps me stay healthy during flu season is diffusing my essential oils when I’m sleeping!
These are all amazing tips! We’ve already been fighting off the germs in my house. For the last two weeks one of us has been sick. I’ve stocked up on vitamins, probiotics, Emergen-C & Ricola. I definitely need to keep some wipes in my purse though so I can wipe down all those gross grocery carts, too!
These are great tips, especially the power of no. Great reminders!
YEP I’m going to need this when we go back to the cold over the holidays and everyone has the sickies!!
Getting enough sleep is something I need to work on. However, I do remember to stay hydrated and take my vitamins. The holidays are indeed fast approaching and we need to keep ourselves in tip top shape to be able to cope with the stress of holiday shopping! 🙂
Learning to say no can be hard, but it’s so important. There is always last minute important stuff that pops up during the holidays, so saying no to some less important things early on can really make your schedule so much easier to handle.
I know I need to go get my flu shot. I’m a children’s librarian so I work with little ones (full of germs!) every day, haha!
Definitely making sure I keep some kind of normalcy that provides me self care, like my workouts or time to read and write. Work gets extra busy this time of year and OT becomes available which I’m looking forward to earning, but it will mean making sure I stay present with myself and what I need and how I’m feeling.
I love Ricola cough drops. They’re definitely my fave! Great post and great reminders as we head into the holiday season. We need to stay healthy!
Oh, I love Ricolas! They are from Switzerland and I kind of grew up with them in my dad’s stash.
good tips! Add that to your child’s first year too!
These are great reminders! I need to start I start doing all these things now. I will have to remember to pick up the lozenges too.
Such great tips! Also, I LOVE Alice in Wonderland’s tea. I have the same kind from a trip to Disney and recognized it from the “drink me” tag 🙂
Great tips! Something’s been going around at school right now, so I’ve been doing lots of hand sanitizer!
Sleep is the one biggest factor that affects immunity. That and stress for sure. Great points!
Super helpful tips. My favorite remedy is a lot of chicken soup. It really helps during the holidays.

Great tips! I have to try those Ricola Herbal Immunity Lozenges. During the holidays, I try to make sure I get enough rest. Whether I’m visiting family or not, when I’m tired I disappear and get some rest. For both my physical and mental health,
I just try to stay calm and not let myself think about it too much. I go shopping and get what I need to get–then go home and just relax with a good book,
Great tips! I hate being sick on holidays. I will definitely use these tips.
I really like to say “No” too. It is very easy to get overbooked during the holidays and having some down time is so key for me. I am going to make sure I continue to take my vitamins! Thanks for sharing this!

Such simple and sound advice but I still neglect myself which is why I was sick last week. Thanks for sharing. I feel like I am forever washing my hands, I’m getting OCD. Great post as ever.
Love this post, Neely! I agree that keeping it clean and taking vitamins are so important during this season.
I definitely needed to read this! I’ve been sick since last week but it’s finally starting to go away ??
getting a good amount of sleep is very important over the holidays and keeping up your immune system.
So many great tips! I always get sick around this time of year so I have to remind myself to take vitamins and get plenty of rest.

Yes to all of these Neely. I have been taking vitamin C every single day to prepare for the wedding hah.
I haven’t tried any of their products with Ginseng. I have tried some of their other lozenges and loved them.
These are all great tips! I always get sick this time of year too! I definitely have been working on boosting my immunity and it seems to be helping somewhat.
I rarely get enough sleep, and need all the help I can get in staying healthy over the winter. Thanks for the great tips, I’m definitely going to give them a try.
I always get sick this time of year too! I know it has a lot to do with nutrition. It’s so hard for me to eat healthy when I’m so cold!
Great post! I agree with your tips. I would also like to add that eating right and exercise!
Definitely important as the weather starts changing. Thanks for sharing! <3

LOL….I don’t think I am normal by many people’s standards. I never get stressed over any holiday, it is just another day for me to laze around
Great tips! My big thing this time of year is Airborne lozenges. I swear by them! haha I used to work with toddlers and would spend a good majority of my day with a lozenge in my mouth. It’s rare that I ever get sick, so I strongly believe they help haha I also keep up my work outs, wash my hands (duh lol), and drink lots of water as well. Basic health habits!

Yes to ALL of this!!! I also keep hand sanitizer with me since I take public transit to work.
I’m a big believer in soups, spicy curries and leafy greens to keep away a cold! My cooking definitely reflects my desire to stay healthy.
Also: wear gloves!

As a teacher, I understand getting sick! Even though I sanitize constantly and am dosed up on my multi-vitamins, I still tend to get a cold a couple of times a year. I’m going to have to try those lozenges, they might be the answer to my prayers!

I think that taking vitamins and things build your immune system is super important. I always take immune vitamins with zinc every morning. Especially with all of the contact during the holiday season.
