Relaxi Cab…Like Taxi Cab

I am currently in Austin, TX staying with my friend big sister Dana for the week.
(Dana and I in Austin January 2011)
I got here yesterday morning and it has been non stop pool time, wine time, food time, bachelorette time, girl talk time since.
So basically I am on vacation….HOLLA!
Dana’s house is gorgeous! Its huge, it has a serene pool, and outdoor area…
Plus my room the guest room is friggin incredible. King sized bed all to myself ala Kevin McCalister, a flat screen with a DVR, and a great bathroom….LOVE.
OK enough about my amazing accomodations….onto today’s blog topic 🙂
Relaxing
Its something we all need to do more of am I right?
I feel like I don’t relax enough
I am not always talking about lounging on the couch with a glass of wine and some Real Housewives either. I mean truly relaxing when you put everything out of your mind, not worry about what you can’t control and let go.
I have the hardest time with that part.
There are a lot of things happening in my life right now out of my control. The biggest being my dads cancer. Its really disheartening to watch someone you love so much go through something so painful. It has been impossible for me to put it out of my mind even for a minute. No matter what I am doing(working out, shopping, eating, watching Teen Mom) I am thinking of my daddy.
Also my relationship with Chad or lack there of….long story.
Student loans
New Job starting
This week while I am in Austin and my dad is in between Chemo’s and hopefully feeling good, I am going to try really hard to just relax and let go.
Let go of the things in my life I have no control over and just be.
So on that note I will be by the pool with my kindle and a glass of wine….
Wake me later?

What do you do to relax and let go?

Relaxing is so difficult. I can’t imagine the stress that all of these things are causing you. Its easy for me to say take time for yourself and don’t think of it but like you said you just can’t stop. Try and enjoy the little moments to yourself. Sending your daddy tons of healing and positive energy!!! He sounds like he is kicking cancer’s ass!!! Go Dad!!!

  2. I wrote a post about this last week, just not being able to handle not being in control all the time. It’s so hard! Working out really helps me to feel like I have control and helps me relax. I don’t always want to go, but I always feel better after I do. Or wine! haha Hope things get better for you soon dear!

Relaxing is a difficult thing for me. The older I have gotten & more responsibilities are added to my plate, it is harder & harder for me to unplug & unwind. It sounds like your time away is just what the doctor ordered. Sending good thoughts your way to help you get through all of the craziness!

I feel like this is so difficult for everyone to let go and just relax. Have you thought of meditating? I personally don’t do it, but I have heard great things about it. I would atleast look into that and see if it is something that is right for you. I also think getting away from situations is sometimes the best. Good luck with everything! Many prayers for your father.

LOVE the title from Friends 🙂 I hope you’re able to relax! I try to set aside “me” time every day, even for just a little while. I stress myself out too much and I need that time to myself!

  7. Sounds like a great plan to me. I also have a hard time relaxing. I realized how intensely this is true when I was in Haiti, because I worked construction all week and it was STILL be most relaxed I’ve felt in years because I was completely unplugged.

Headed to DC tomorrow and planning on clearing my head there til next Monday. : ] Enjoy your time away and that king sized bed!

It sounds crazy, but going for a run is the best way to clear my head. Especially when I go without my music. I have no choice but to just focus on my breathing and the scenery.

Otherwise, I have found that just shutting off everything helps. There have been afternoons when I keep the computer and TV off and just sit and read. It’s easy for me to get lost in a book, and it’s so nice.

Usually, I’m great at ignoring things. But recently it’s getting harder. Physically being in a different location should definitely help though. Hope you have a great vacay!! 🙂

Ha! Relax? What is that? I have a hard time relaxing too because my mind is always go, go, go, and even sitting on the couch I don’t feel relaxed. I think I need to start attending yoga more often.

Relaxing is always so hard! I rush home and watch my shows before Fred gets there or I’ll take Knox for a walk. I’m always on the go.

Praying for your dad (and your family). My dad had prostate cancer a few years ago- he had to undergo radiation, but thankfully he has been cancer-free for almost 3 years!!

Enjoy your vacation! You deserve it!

  16. The title made me laugh since I always tell my husband I’m being relaxi-taxi when I’m on the couch and want to do nothing but veg.

I hope your dad is doing better with the new treatments. I can’t imagine how stressful that is for you.

Enjoy your week in Austin. I’m insanely jealous of all your pool/relaxing/wine tweets 😉
