In April I will be 34. I used to shudder at it and now I love it. The older I get the more comfortable I feel in my own skin, the more confident I am IN who I am, and the less crap I give about what others think. All of those 100% come with age. At 24 I was lost, aimless, and insecure. Sure every now and then those insecurities creep back in, but there is something to be said for getting older. I know a lot of people freak out at certain ages (25, 30, 40, etc. ). So I want to share a bit about how to embrace your age.

How To Embrace Your Age
Remember it’s a number: You are only as old as you feel, right? I don’t feel 34 (unless I stay out past 11!). But really it’s a number so don’t worry about it. I dress how I want even if that means Nike shorts and an oversized t-shirt like a college student and I don’t care about what I should do, or wear. It’s a number!

Love the wisdom: One thing my mom always told me is that I would love the wisdom that comes with age and she was so right. The older I get like I said above the less I care about what others think. The more, I also realize how right my mom was about pretty much everything.
Have a good skincare regimen: So one of my favorite things is people being SHOCKED when they find out I am 34. Part of this is probably because I dress like I’m 22 (no shame). But, part of it is also because I really take good care of my skin. I don’t tan, I don’t smoke (never have), and I never go to sleep with makeup on. I also have a great skincare regimen. If you are trying to figure out what skincare regimen is for you, I have the thing you for! It’s really simple: The Olay Skin Advisor Tool in partnership with Sam’s Club. Go to https://sa.olayskinadvisor.com/ and the tool walks you through the process and gives you tips on how to take the best selfie for good results. The hardest part of the whole thing is the hope that your “skin age” is less than your actual age! But if (and when) it’s not, never fear – the tool analyzes your best zones and focus areas and recommends the perfect Olay products available at Sam’s Club to keep your skincare goals in check. I did this myself and this is how it went:

(for me my biggest concerns are crows feet and dark circles)

(super cute photo right?- I mean I am 5 weeks away from 34 so good job Olay skin advisor tool!)

(this is the product they recommended I use)
SO EASY! Now I can order that product from Sam’s Club directly from the tool and hopefully fix these problems before they age me! I highly encourage you to try this tool out and see for yourself what you skin age is and what products you can use to help you in whatever problem areas you feel like you have!
Stay active: My mom and my dad’s mom are both two of the most active women I know. My grandmother works out every day at almost 86 and my mom too. My mom owns her own business, works out, and has the best social life. When I say stay active it doesn’t JUST mean working out but stay active in your community, with your friends, and with your significant other. The more idle you sit the older you will feel.
Don’t sweat the small stuff: This is another bit of wisdom but really the less you sweat the small stuff the happier you will be and honestly this comes with age. Remember that things can ALWAYS be worse. The little things we worry about in the grand scheme of things just don’t matter as much as we think they do.
What would you add to this list of how to embrace your age?
How old do you FEEL?

One thing’s for sure, Neely – you do not look your age! Beautiful no matter what! 🙂

I am all about being only as old as I feel (which is usually fairly young, haha) + yay for skin care routines!! I revamped mine this winter because it’s been wayyy too dry lately!
I generally don’t have a problem with my age until someone asks.
Telling them I am 31… well, most don’t believe me. I look 25 max. It is good to look young but I feel like people sometimes don’t take me seriously because I look like a child. But the old age health problems started to creep up on me nonetheless.
Weird this age thing.
Going to try this Skin Advisor for sure! Loving my 30s, but totally need to up my self-care game.
I think it’s important to also embrace how young you are. Everyone always seems to be older than me and I am always trying to hide how young I really am. But, since I am young, I can start doing things like a daily skin care so that when I’m older, my skin looks healthy. I’m 24 and loving life. Thanks for this post. ✌️
Great tips… and when the wrinkles do start to appear, nothing wrong with embracing them as they tell the story of our life.
Great article! I just turned 33 and was just talking to a friend recently about how I feel much more self-confident now than I ever did. When I was in my 20s I didn’t know who I really was and wanted yet. I was very insecure. I feel so much happier now than I ever did! 🙂
These are very useful tips and some great advice. I personally
Enjoy taking a personal power snooze too. Just enough to recharge and refocus.
This is awesome. I see so many people get caught up with a number, while our bodies age and the age shows, I know that we can in our minds be so much younger plus there’s these awesome options to keep our skin and body feeling and looking great!
This is such a great post, I agree about having a good skin care regimen, I definitely regret not paying attention to my skincare routine when I was younger, but now I’m very focused on it! That Olay Skin Advisor Tool sounds amazing!
I love this! I am only 17, so I still have a lot to learn. But it is so interesting to see what other people have learnt, simply through living! Also the Olay skin advisor actually sounds amazing, I really want to give that a go! xx

I so agree with all of this! I am 33 and I feel better than I ever have. Aging doesn’t scare me in the least, it’s so nice to have the insecurities of my 20’s behind me. I just started a serious skin care regimen with Olay a few months ago and I love it. My skin is better than it’s ever been. Thanks for sharing!
I totally agree that getting older has brought me a confidence in myself that I wouldn’t trade for anything. That being said, I’m a little daunted by the idea that I’ll be turning thirty in a couple years. I feel like I’m still 24 most of the time!
Haha – I can totally relate in that I don’t feel my age either unless I stay out past 11! 😂 And working out and taking care of your body is definitely a way to keep you feeling lively and energetic 🙂
i turn 31 in few days and i feel the same way….its really in your head and skin is i think partly genetics and partly lifestyle…
It’s strange. I swear I feel better and better the older I get. Kind of like a fine wine, I get better with age lol
I think I become happier and more sure of myself as I get older. I am embracing the fact that I turn 40 next year. This is a really great read. Thanks for sharing!
Great post! Agree that age is a number! I don’t feel my age either, I think it’s all in the head. Having a skincare regime is important to keep skin staying youthful.
I swear by a good skin care rountine and very good products for my skin too! I’ll be 24 in April and that’s feeling a little older than I think I am sometimes! Age is definitely just a number!
I’m turning 28 in May, which sounds old to some but it doesn’t bother me. I think there’s a lot of positive when it comes to aging and learning who you are.
For sure, staying active directly affects how I feel. Moving to the snow from the beach made me a hermit, but I am starting to embrace getting out and active despite the cold *LAYERS!
I love this post so much! I am 33 and while I don’t feel “old” yet, I know I will soon…. but you are right! Just a number!
I just celebrated my 37th birthday, and cringe at the thought of my age, but you are right I should be embracing it! I love all of the Olay products and use them in my daily regime.
That is such a cool app! I don’t feel my age either but when I remember that I’m older than I think, it’s always a bit shocking — like I need to have my life a little more together than it is! I really need to focus on a skincare routine more!
I will be 33 in a few months and I’ve decided its best just to embrace it. I mean we all get older right? I don’t feel as old as I am so thats what counts!
A great skincare routine is so important! While I am only 24 I totally started early.

I am turning 31 this spring and have definitely upped my skincare game! I love people thinking I am younger than I am…especially with five kids!
Nice piece!
As for me, it is not so hard to maintain your appearance in an excellent condition. It is up to you. The main rule is consistency. Without daily efforts, you most likely fail. So pity, but it is true. Nobody but you. And as an experienced dermatologist, I do recommend a face mask. Women’s facial skin needs it. You should better bring it as much attention as possible. Do you facial procedures on the constant base and you will definitely look great!
Be healthy!
Thanks for the useful article!
