I love books as you probably know if you regularly read my blog. I make a monthly reading goal as well as try to share my favorite books for you guys pretty frequently. I get asked a lot about what books I read in regards to blogging. I have to say that I read a lot of blogging books several years ago, and I read more business type books now so I am intermixing the two types for what I think the best books for bloggers to read are.

Best Books For Bloggers

As far as books specifically for blogging, the first one I remember reading was Blog Inc. I think I got this book right when it came out and I was only just starting to make significant money on my blog. Enough for it to be considered income. Even though some of the info may be a bit outdated, I think it still holds up well and is a great book to read no matter how new or seasoned you are into blogging. My good friend, Danielle Smith, wrote Social Media Engagement for Dummies and honestly I think it’s a must read. With new social media popping up all the time, it’s a great book to explain why engagement is important and making lasting relationships with your readers is key. If you are wondering how I learned SEO and how I grew my page-view numbers, I did it while reading Mom Blog SEO. I heard about this book at a blogging conference in 2011 and I have gone back to it again and again. If you still don’t understand Google+ I would read Google+ for Small Businesses. While you may not think you need it, it’s important to understand why it’s helpful. 81 Free Tools For New Bloggers is one I have only looked at a little, but I saw that it was free on Amazon Kindle and I went for it. So far it seems to have GREAT resources!

I like to read books that are more business based, because while blogging books are good, if you are planning to treat your blog as a business these books are VERY helpful! While I hate the term “Girl Boss” because hey we are all bosses no need for gender there, I do like the book, Girl Boss. I really respect what Sophia Amoruso has done in her business and how she really wants to empower young women. I met Scott Stratten at a blog conference where I heard him speak. He is brilliant. The Book of Business Awesome is a must read. I think the book, Nice Girls Don’t Get the Corner Office is a GREAT book for women to read. It talks a lot about how women tend to “stay out of things” and “take the nice road” instead of playing the game. Read this! The book Rich Bitch is great to read for anyone who wants to be financially savvy. I love the way things are explained, and this book is great for bloggers and non-bloggers alike, but seriously read this!

If you like to read books about blogging or business, all of these are great choices! I am someone who thinks that continuing to educate yourself long after the school days are over is only going to get you ahead in life.

What is your favorite blogging or business related book?

One that I haven’t read but I’ve seen making the rounds in this space lately is You Are A Badass. Of course, Brene Brown and Danielle Laporte’s entire libraries are worth a mention too. 😉

When I was setting up my blog I read food blogs for dummies and it was great. Made for dummies like me lol. I have got to check out those social media and SEO books. I’m stuck in those two areas!

I have Girl Boss. I haven’t read it yet but it’s on my to do list soon! The rest of these sound like really good and informational books, too! I cant wait to check them out!

These are great! I always like to rely on other online posts that bloggers write about their experiences blogging (what works, what doesn’t) . I normally love books but, with this stuff, everything changes so quickly that a book doesn’t always capture everything you need to know!

I have the book for Dummies one 😉 I met Danielle one of the authors long before this book in NC at a conference one year back in the beginning days of my blogging time like 9 years ago 🙂

I’m definitely pinning this and adding all of these to my TBR list. 🙂 I flipped through Blog Inc when I first started blogging but since I wasn’t (am still not) ready – aka school comes first, blog comes second – to monetize my blog, I wasn’t paying attention to those sections. I need to go back and read it again. Thanks for sharing! I’m so excited about this!

I don’t have one yet, which is why I read this post! I loved reading Girl Boss a year ago but I’m definitely in a new perspective. I love podcasts but I miss being able to annotate a book. Definitely going to check out a few of these.

I do love reading books a lot and I always look for something that is related with business, social media, blogging & latest gadgets. These are some great book suggestions for bloggers, that could help in bringing more traffic to their website!

Thanks for sharing this list. I’m just starting to bog and I’m sure these will be a great help . #Girlboss has been on my to read list for a while so this will definitely be an extra push to get it.
