Best Pregnancy and Baby Related Books

I read A LOT of books during my pregnancy. I read a lot for fun but I also read a ton of pregnancy and baby related books. After reading as much as I did and having a few requests for this post I am sharing the best pregnancy and baby related books I found with you guys.

Best Pregnancy and Baby Related Books

I was sent a copy of Jillian Michaels new books, Yeah Baby. I honestly loved it. I read it towards the end of my pregnancy when getting fit post baby was on my mind a lot. Seeing how much weight I gained was really taking a toll on me emotionally. This book made me feel so much better and really gave me some good ideas and starting points for post baby fitness and health. This is great for all parts of pregnancy though and for learning some helpful tips about baby!

One of my good friends gave me a few books to read that she loved, and one of them was Bringing Up Bebe which was really cute and fun. I read it on a flight and really enjoyed learning about French parenting styles. One of the other books she gave me was The Girlfriend’s Guide To Pregnancy which was so funny. I loved how REAL it was and no holds barred. Perfect to read for something a little more relatable. She also gave me Belly Laughs which was also very real about pregnancy and child birth and really felt like talking to a friend.

A Bump In The Road is fiction but I really loved that it’s about a girl who finds herself pregnant when she wasn’t expecting it and how it wasn’t easy for her to adjust. I feel like it’s not a story we get a lot. There’s a sequel too! Bonus!

My favorite “weekly” book was for sure Your Pregnancy Week By Week. I read so many reviews of different ones, and while I did buy several, this one was the best, with the most concise info that didn’t seem too daunting. I also read the basic What to Expect When You’re Expecting and I really liked that one too. A lot of similar info as your pregnancy week by week. Either of the books are a great choice. If you are like me and had 100 questions for your Dr every time you see them I suggest grabbing, The Panic Free Pregnancy. It answers a lot of questions about food, travel, etc that you may be curious about.

One of my biggest concerns about having a baby was sleep. I am someone who NEEDS sleep so I felt like my best bet would be to read all the books. We will see if any of them end up helping us, but my favorite was Happiest Baby On The Block. It was really informative and I really like the structure. My other favorite was Baby Wise.  These are both awesome for sleeping tips and lots of infant related things.

These were my favorite pregnancy and baby related books and I think they are all great to read if you have the time!

Did you have any pregnancy or baby related book favorites?

  1. These look like good books for the expectant mom. I don’t have any family member right now that is expecting but I will keep these books in mind if I come to know of a friend or family member who is pregnant. These books would also make for a great gift for a baby shower or pregnancy announcement party.

I have Pregnancy Week by Week! I love this book especially how in depth it is. It’s really lame, but I can’t wait until I get to a new week so I can read up on what’s coming next! I heard some good things about Belly Laughs but I had no idea Jillian Michaels wrote a baby book.
I was never one to read up on baby books but I was all about following blogs and using apps. 🙂 If you ever feel compelled to write a blog about which blogs and apps to use I’ll be all about it! Putting Jillian Michael’s book in my amazon cart now! 🙂

This is a great list! My favorites were Bringing up Bebe and of course What to Expect. Now that my son is older I am reading Praying for Boys which I highly recommend.

I read a lot of books when I was pregnant too, although many of the books I did not read. The one that stood out the most was the Jillian Michaels book.

Ok, my absolute favorite books I read before I had our first baby were Happiest Baby on the Block, and Bringing Up Bebe. SO many good actionable tips in Happiest Baby on the Block, and Bringing Up Bebe helped me to be a more laid back parent. I also loved reading the Hypnobirthing book, even though I ended up having to have a C-Section. Great suggestions!
