Current Makeup Routine

With fall here (FINALLY) I wanted to share my current makeup routine for fall time. It’s not crazily different, but I have been using a lot of new products and I am loving them.

Current Makeup Routine

  • I always start with the Smashbox Photo Finish Primer Water. Does it really work? No idea. Does it make my face feel fresh? Yes.
  • About 2 years ago I started using Laura Mercier Oil Free Primer and I love it. It really helps keep my makeup on all day and prevents my foundation from caking.
  • For a lighter coverage look I use the Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream. If you want something that doesn’t feel too heavy but still gives you great coverage, this is it. Plus you can’t beat the price!
  • To get my brows looking normal and full I use the Anastasia Brow Wiz whenever I do a full face of makeup. I then use the Anastasia Brow Gel. These two products are amazing and worth every penny! I tell people all the time to use them!
  • I have a few concealers I alternate between, but lately I have been gravitating towards the Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer. It’s really great and worth the hype it gets. I also like that it brightens up my under eyes a bit too!
  • Laura Mercier Setting Powder is one of those powders that I don’t use for a while and then when I do I wonder why I ever stopped. It is the perfect powder.
  • I randomly picked up this Benefit Palette when I was traveling and forgot blush and bronzer. It’s such a fun palette and I have used it so much more than I thought I would. The colors are very pigmented, so a little goes a long way!
  • My absolute favorite eyeliner is the Kat Von D Tattoo Liner. This lasts a really long time and it goes on so well. Highly recommend!
  • I have been using the Burberry Cat Lashes Mascara for a little over a month now and it was really worth the investment. I tend to not purchase super expenses mascaras, but this one is one I will repurchase again.
  • Chanel Lip Gloss in Wild Rose is the perfect basic nude lip gloss to throw on and reapply as needed. It gives you just enough color but does not overpower at all.

My routine is pretty easy and takes me about 10 minutes. If we are going somewhere fancy I will usually do a bolder lip and a bit more with my eyes. But this routine is perfect for travel or a regular day.

What is your current makeup routine?

I love your selection of products. Your blog is the reason I have the Maybelline BB foundation and I LOVE IT. It’s perfect for my dry skin that just needs a little bit of dewiness and evening out. Thank you!

I never go without a primer and a bb cream – it’s just not as heavy as make up and helps me feel fresh throughout my day at work. I always have oil blotting papers and some powder on hand in case things get hectic at the office to freshen up my look. These are all great products. Never tried #1 – I feel intrigued to!

You’ve intruiged me – I’m going to check out the BB cream! Thanks for the detailed description and your opinion on each part of your routine. I’m kind of clueless when it comes to makeup. This post is fascinating for me – because whenever I walk into the area that has makeup I just walk back out… confused! Great info – and even I can understand what you’re talking about! 🙂

Well, I wear makeup about twice a week, but I love it 🙂 Have you tried NARS eyelid primer? It’s really good. It prevents eye shadow from settling in your creases.

  10. I need to revamp my make up routine now that the hot weather is coming to an end and my tan is fading fast. The thing I need to find, desperately, is make up remover that actually takes off mascara. I always wake up looking like a raccoon, even when I remove it before bed.

A simple and easy makeup routine I must say, my routine pretty much is the same. I really swear by Urban decay concealer and Anastasia brow gel too. And could not agree more, the cat lashes mascara are the bomb, totally worth the investment.

I love that numbers 1, 2, 4, 7, and 9 are part of mine too! I have struggled to find the perfect mascara, so i’ll have to try this one. I’m using a lancome primer and its been pretty amazing, but it’s white. And once i put mascara on top of it, it starts to clump. Why cant they just make that primer black and then, oh, also make it mascara while you’re at it?

    Thanks for sharing!

  17. I love the color of that lip gloss! Super cute! My daily routine changes from day to day. Mostly dependent on what I have time for with a 2 year old running around and one on the way. Sometimes I don’t feel like putting any makeup on and the only thing that touches my face is moisturizer. Thanks for sharing your selections!

We are still fighting the heatwave here, so I can’t start using my fall makeup routine not quite yet. I haven’t tried any Maybelline BB creams before, but really want to check them out. I will be adding Urban Decay concealer to my next makeup shopping list.

I’m always impressed by the makeup bags of women who take wearing it seriously. I’ve had professional make up done for photo shots so I’m familiar with all the stuff. But I use very, very little on my own.
