Greetings From DC

Greetings from DC! I am here until Thursday then off to NYC for a few days. It was very cold in Dallas leading up to this trip so I thought I was prepared for the cold. I was not but I am sure loving it!

Andrew has a work training and I am spending my mornings working from our room and afternoons exploring.

We got in Friday afternoon and after checking into our hotel we high tailed it to The White House and walked around the monuments.

Then we met up with my family for the opening home game of GWU basketball and when the court is named after a family member you get pretty good seats! We had a blast eating in the private club and enjoying a great basketball game.

Saturday morning was Andrews first day of training and while he did that I went to the Holocaust Museum, White House, Saw a ton more monuments and then met Andrew for lunch.

The Holocaust Museum was truly a place everyone needs to visit. Being raised Jewish I learned a lot about the Holocaust from my grandparents but seeing the museum really had me emotional. I was so glad I could light a candle for my ancestors and really take the time to think about what they went through.

After lunch I headed to the Georgetown Campus to walk around and then of course make a visit to The Tombs(AKA St. Elmos Bar from St. Elmos Fire). Then I did some shopping on M street which was a ton of fun and very crowded. I also had no idea there was a Dean and DeLuca so that was a great surprise! I grabbed a Hot Chocolate to have while shopping and it was the perfect companion.

I was pretty exhausted after that. I walked 8 or so miles on Saturday. We kept Saturday night low key and grabbed Shake Shack for dinner(Andrew’s first time) and then headed back to our hotel for drinks!

Sunday was a pretty fun day as well. I love being in rival Football cities on Game day. Especially when the Cowboys have a bye week and I just watch the other teams lose 🙂

I started my day having Starbucks with Andrew and then meeting my blog friend turned IRL friend Kelly for Brunch at a really yummy place called Scion. Then I sat with Andrew while he had Thai food for lunch. I hung back at the hotel doing work for a few hours before exploring Dupont Circle.

We met up with some other blog turned IRL friends Hudson and Emily for dinner. Check out their blog it is so great! They spoke at WGS Philly back in September and I got the chance to spend time with them there so it was so fun to catch up again and double date!

Monday was spent with Jaci, Andrew’s cousin! Her and I went to the Newseum and had some lunch and drinks and basically just had a fun day of girl time. I got a little work done after that then Michael(Jaci’s husband), Jaci, Andrew and I went to dinner at an amazing Italian Restaurant. So good to see family while we are in DC!

I still have 2 full days in DC before we head to NYC and I have a lot of the Smithsonian to see!

Oh and no Olivia Pope sightings for those who asked 😉

Have you been to DC before? Anything you recommend I see?

So glad you are enjoying your time in D.C. – did you love Founding Farmers? I haven’t explore Georgetown yet, but I really need to. I read online somewhere that when House of Cards is filming, they put up maps of where to go. May need to try that soon.

My daughter lived in Bethesda for a while so we made it down to the Hill a number of times to see the street vendors and eat breakfast at the market. It’s lots of fun and the breakfast is like being in an old farm community. Have a great time.
