Healthy Pregnancy Habits I Continued

When I got pregnant almost two years ago I really wanted to make sure I was healthy for Liam and for myself. There are certain habits I started during and before pregnancy that I continued. Today I am sharing some healthy pregnancy habits I continued and why you should consider them too!

Healthy Pregnancy Habits I Continued

  • Vitamins: I started taking prenatal vitamins when we decided we wanted to have a baby. I have never stopped. I have noticed amazing benefits from them and plan to take them for the foreseeable future.
  • Supplements: I love my prenatal vitamins, but as someone who isn’t a huge dairy person I was SO worried I wouldn’t have enough calcium. Also, did you know that a prenatal vitamin only has about 20-30% of the calcium you need daily? So you really need something to supplement it during such an important time pre and post baby! I started taking Viactiv and never stopped. Viactiv are chewable and come in Milk Chocolate and Caramel and taste awesome. Two of them a day gives you all the calcium you need. So, if, like me, you aren’t a huge dairy person you don’t have to worry. You get all the calcium health you need easily and don’t have to stress about it! They are also individually wrapped so they make travel and throwing in your bag for work really easy! If you want to buy Viactiv you can get it at Walmart, Target, CVS, Walgreens, Rite Aid etc! Your bones are always undergoing changes so remember that it’s important to have a calcium supplement pregnant or not!

  • Sleep: When I was pregnant I made sleep a huge priority. Well Liam did that for me by making me exhausted! Since having him my schedule has changed so I obviously wake up pretty early now to get things done before he’s up for the day. As a result I go to bed earlier.
  • Walking: When I was early on in my pregnancy I was not advised to do certain exercises. Since we did IVF I wanted to be extra careful. I took to walking 3 miles a day at a pretty slow pace. Since having Liam I have kept up daily walks (usually with him). I add it to my regular workouts and REALLY love the benefits.

I would love to know one healthy habit you started this year! Leave in the comments!

Thank you Viactiv for partnering on this post.

I’m trying to get better, especially with the vitamins! I’m honestly not that great at taking them when I’m pregnant but I notice a difference so I have started taking them a lot more lately!

I love going on really long walks everyday, especially since I spend the whole workday in front of a computer. I wasn’t going that much in the winter but the weather has finally warmed up where I live so I’m back at it

It is so wonderful that you developed a behavior in pregnancy and carried it onward in the future after having the baby. I know many who stop doing things like this to stay healthy after pregnancy, I am a guilty one, Thank you for inspiring me to get back to being more healthy!

  11. Important reminders for all of us! I have the hardest time with the vitamins. They tend to upset my stomach. Still trying to figure out the right mix for my body. Love your bright pictures. Makes me want to make more smoothies to get the veggies and fruits into our diet. Now is the perfect time to recommit to healthy habits. Spring cleaning for the home, our bodies, and our minds! Thanks for another awesome post!

I’m not a big dairy fan so I try to get my calcium from plants mostly. I haven’t heard of Viactiv before but they look super delicious. What a great way to go get your calcium!

  19. Exercising per doctors instructions is so healthy and good during pregnancy. I didn’t keep up with my exercising, and it was harder to get into the habit again afterwards, but I did begin again, slowly but surely, with some setbacks. In a good routine now! 😉

I was so focused on my health during pregnancy, but those habits are just good practice. Love that you’re continuing to use the supplements women need. I need to do the same.

I don’t take my prenatal vitamins anymore, but I do take women’s vitamins and omega vitamins. I try to go to bed earlier, but it just depends on the night. Sometimes my 2 year has trouble going to bed or I have things I’m trying to get done in the evening.
