Favorite Pregnancy Snacks

Since becoming pregnant I have had a bit of a sweet tooth. Strange for someone who has never really been into sweets other than the occasional yogurt outing or birthday dessert. Because I really want to be the healthiest possible for this baby, and for myself, I have figured out some favorite pregnancy snacks that really work for me. Pairing things you already eat with goodnessknows bars can take an ordinary snack and make it extra delicious.

Smoothies: I drink a green smoothie every day. I have written about them so many times on this blog I have lost count. While the mix of fruits and greens is delicious, now that I am pregnant it is sometimes not enough to quench my hunger. I have been having my regular smoothie with a few squares of goodnessknows bars for an extra filling post workout snack. I keep the bars in my car too so that when I am starving after my workout I can have some even before I get home to make my smoothie.

Snack Plates: For those who have been pregnant, I don’t know if you guys had this, but a lot of days nothing sounds good. These days I end up making snack plates. I usually have some apples with peanut butter, some goodnessknows snack squares, and then some grapes. Some days I also add pretzel thins! If I’m feeling REAL fancy I add cheese and crackers. Snack plates are fantastic to get a little variety of everything and the goodnessknows bars make an amazing addition.

Oatmeal and Fruit: In the mornings I usually have oatmeal with sliced banana for breakfast. Sometimes in the afternoon I make another bowl of oatmeal as a snack. Instead of having banana, or sometimes in addition to, I will have a few goodnessknows squares to give me a little extra. Especially if I am heading to the gym to meet with my trainer and know I will work up an appetite!

A little about goodnessknows: They are divided into four snackable squares per serving – all for 150 calories. They come in 3 amazing flavors 1. cranberry, almond, dark chocolate 2. apple, almond & peanut, dark chocolate  and 3. peach & cherry, almond, dark chocolate.

I also really love to just have goodnessknows squares on their own! I keep a few in my car, some in my gym bag, and if we are traveling we always bring them. Andrew loves them too — his favorite is the apple dark chocolate.

I hope to share more of my favorite pregnancy snacks as I move further along. Knowing me I will be loving a whole bunch more stuff in the coming weeks!

What were your favorite pregnancy snacks or favorite snacks in general?

I definitely hear ya on when food just doesn’t sound appealing at all! I dealt with that alot during my first trimester. Now that I’m just over 21 weeks along, I want all of the food. I’m constantly hungry!
