In Defense of Ben Affleck a letter to the Academy and to everyone else
As you all know either from my blog, twitter or Facebook I have not taken Ben Affleck being snubbed for Best Director at the Oscars lightly. I think the Academy isn’t respecting on the most talented directors of our time. Gone Baby Gone, The Town and Argo were 3 of the best movies in the last 5 years hands down! All 3 years actors from the movies were nominated for Academy Awards. So there ya go.
This year the movie is up for several awards including best Supporting Actor and Picture…but NO director??
Lets see how this has now panned out:
Directors Guild Awards winner: Ben Affleck
Producers Guild Awards winner: Argo AKA Ben Affleck for Producing
Screen Actors Guild Award winner: Argo AKA Ben Affleck
Golden Globe Winner: Argo and Ben Affleck for Director
BAFTA Awards: Best Picture Argo and Best Director Ben Affleck
Hmmm but no Academy Award nomination?? WTF Academy? The Academy is made up of the above: Producers, Directors, Actors, anyone ever nominated or who has won and they all chose Ben to win those other Awards….something is fishy here.
How can you have 9 pictures nominated for best film but 5 directors? Directors Make the pictures!
Are we still holding this against him? Everyone makes mistakes
Clearly he’s moved on to the better things in life
So Academy because I assume you read my blog…make it right…next year have the same number of films and directors nominated and give Ben Affleck and Argo Best Picture….you know they deserve it.

I would say poor Ben Affleck! But I can’t now, not with you fighting in his corner. I have faith that the Academy will see the error of their ways after reading your post–surely they must?!? (Even though I still haven’t quite forgiven Ben for the amount of crying, or really, sobbing, he made me do with Bounce.)

ha. I honestly haven’t seen too many movies lately, wish I had. Its a rare treat when I make it to the theater.
