So I had a baby! Now what? Well now a lot of things, but as of yesterday I am cleared to work out again. One of the things that will be high on my list is getting back into a workout routine. I figured I would share my post pregnancy workout plan so that it keeps me accountable. Maybe it will give others some ideas too!
Post Pregnancy Workout Plan
Daily Walks: Spring is here so we will have warm enough mornings or afternoons to get out everyday and go for a walk. So far we’ve been lucky to get out 4-5 days a week and walk and Liam seems to really enjoy it! Not only from a fitness stand point is it good, but I know it’s good for him to get out in the fresh air and for me to not feel so secluded at home. Our neighborhood has amazing trails and parks to walk in. Plus I have a really lovely stroller to use. I foresee lots of walks in our future.
Back to Barre: I am headed back to barre classes this week! They are such a great workout and have always gotten my butt in shape when I need it. Since we have barre classes at my gym and since my gym has child care that will be where the barre classes are happening! Such a great full body workout! I am also signed up for some classes at a new barre studio near my house.
Training Day: I worked with a trainer at my gym all through my pregnancy and I fully intend to go back a few times a month to see him now. He pushes me a lot and he really helped me stay in shape during pregnancy.
Stroller Strides: I have a lot of friends in different cities who do stroller strides classes and I can’t wait to check some out. Especially with the nicer weather here! There are a lot in different Dallas suburbs so I just need to find one and try it out! So many people swear by them plus its a great way to meet other moms!
Recovery: With all of that I need my body to recover well so I can continue to be a good momma and have energy for my little man. So enter Kill Cliff. I was sent a TON of this amazing new drink to try and let me tell you we are huge fans. It’s a great replacement for Gatorade, diet soda, energy drinks, and even juice! The company was founded by a Navy SEAL who created the original product as a way to recover from intense workouts. It is the perfect recovery drink. So it’s made up of mainly electrolytes, a vitamin blend, an enzyme blend, and natural anti-inflammatories like ginger, ginseng, and green tea. Fueling my body with good healthy products is extremely important to me. But, it’s also delicious and can be consumed anytime as a healthy alternative to sports drinks, sodas, or energy drinks. KILL CLIFF is lightly carbonated so think of it like a healthy, beneficial soda

Will need to keep this in mind after our baby girl comes! Stroller walks are definitely key for me, thankfully we have an elliptical too so that will help at naptime! Thanks for sharing!!
Great ideas here! I definitely started with walks, because my babies could come with me! Once I was healed, I started slowly getting back into Olympic weightlifting, my passion prior to having kids!
Love barre classes! Sounds like a great workout routine..variety is so key to staying motivated!
This is great! I wish I had this plan when I had first had my son-workouts were a struggle!
Yes! I’m going to need this in a couple of weeks! I’m definitely planning on lots of walks with this beautiful spring weather!
GET IT GURL. I’m totally with you on eating healthy. With my wedding in 6 months, I’ve been getting down to serious business- no more monkeying around!!
I just had my fourth baby 8 weeks ago!! So exciting! I do the elliptical for 20-30 minutes at home. Then I lift 10 lb weights to keep my arms toned and also use them to do squats and lunges. I also do my ab exercises too. I love it because it helps me build muscle and stay nice and toned too!
I wish this was around when I was still in my child bearing age. It was a struggle for me to get back to my pre-pregnancy weight! I did it anyway, slowly but surely. I think my daughter would benefit from this work out plan. She still has a long way to go to lose all that weight she put on with her last pregnancy.
Daily walks are the way to go for me! Not at all strenuous, sustainable over time, and something that I genuinely enjoy because it gives me time to think and see beautiful places.
Good for you with working out and staying in shape post baby! That’s awesome! I have never heard of these drinks before. I will have to check them out soon!
This seems well thought out. I would be curious to see how everything worked out for you.
