Recent Reads

I started a book club with a bunch of local friends in January and so far we’ve picked 3 amazing books. We alternate who picks and hosts monthly and the books have been amazing.

I wanted to share some of my recent reads with you guys and get some feedback from you on what I should be reading.

Month 1: Paper Towns by John Green. This was the book I chose and I loved it and I think everyone else did too. It is by far my favorite John Green book that I’ve read and I could not recommend it more.

Month 2: What Alice Forgot seriously could not put this one down. Its the story of a woman who wakes up and can’t remember the last 10 years of her life. Amazing page turner.

Month 3(This months book): All the boys I’ve loved before by Jenny Han. I do not want to give too much away because our book club is next week and some of the girls haven’t finished the book yet. I finished it in 2 days. Very fun light read and super cute book. It was a fun rainy weekend read.

Some other books I’ve read lately and loved: Confess by Colleen Hoover, Forever Interrupted by Taylor Jenkins Reid, and Dirty Rush by Taylor Bell(if you were in a sorority you must read this!)

I try to read at least one book a week if not two and so far this year I’ve read about 26. I really need to update my goodreads account.

What are some of your recent reads that I should add to my list? I would love more suggestions!

Hi, Neely…sounds like some good reads, and I like the way your book club is set up to have different ones select a book and then host the meeting. I belong to a book club where just a couple of people like to pick the books, then a lot of them don’t read it before the meeting. Really aggravating, so I’ve thought about starting a new one. We are reading the Paris Architect by Belfoure for April, but I haven’t started it as yet.

I’ve seen ‘To All the Boys’ at B&N but haven’t picked it up yet. It’s definitely on my “to read once I’m done with school” list! Also loved ‘Paper Towns’ when I read it a couple years ago.

One of my friends (a middle school teacher) is OBSESSED with John Green’s works–it’s good to see that you’ve recommended him, too. I need to read a few of his books or my friend will probably stop speaking to me soon. Thanks for the recommendations! 🙂

  12. I’ve heard good things about Jenny Han, but am so rushed on pleasure reading these days. I’m glad to hear it’s a quick read, and might just pick it up for my next plane ride.

  15. I hate to say it…but I did NOT like Paper Towns. But I will definitely go see the movie. I’m a huge fan of John Green though. I think Looking for Alaska is my favorite. I have the other two books on my TBR list. Can’t wait to read them.

I felt the same way about Paper Towns! I was just not a fan, and I think it because Looking For Alaska is my favorite John Green book as well. I felt that they had too similar of plots!

For me, John Green books seem to be a hit or miss. I loved The Fault In Our Stars and Looking For Alaska, but really wasn’t impressed with Paper Towns or An Abundance of Katherines. I loved Looking For Alaska, and I felt that Paper Towns had too similar of a plot. But hey, that’s just one opinion. I will have to check out your other suggestions!
