Simple Switches We’ve Made To Live Well

It’s funny how set in our ways we can get… or at least I can. I can be so anxious to switch products, services, or just my everyday routine around. But change is good! Switching things up is good. I am partnering with Tampax and Always to dive into some simple switches we’ve made to live well.

Simple Switches We’ve Made to Live Well

  • Better For Me Products: I’ve mentioned on the blog a few times about wanting to switch to products with simpler ingredients like shaving cream and deodorant. But another product I switched were my pads and tampons! Recently Tampax and Always launched their Pure and Clean collection and you guys I am a HUGE fan (fun fact: I was lucky enough to get to get a sneak peek at these products before the launch!) So what makes these Tampax and Always products different you ask? Tampax Pure and Clean Tampons have a 100% cotton core, responsibly-sourced from within the US. They are free of dyes, fragrances, and chlorine bleaching and the tampon applicator is composed of a translucent, 90% plant-based material. Like all Tampax products, Pure and Clean also has the unique comfort and trusted protection of Tampax, including width-wise expansion and a LeakGuard Braid for built-in back-up protection. When it comes to pads, which I mix into my period regimen from time to time, Always Pure and Clean pads have the trusted, long-lasting protection and a soft, gentle top sheet expected from Always. Every pad in the Pure and Clean collection is free of dyes, fragrances, and chlorine bleaching. Basically you are getting everything you love from the Tampax and Always products you’ve used for years with simple ingredients to help you live well! When you think about a product that you use all the time, and use so intimately, why not try a simplified option? This has been a good option for me because pure, clean products are something that I strive to use in every aspect of my life. I am being more mindful about the products for our baby so why not myself? Have I convinced you yet? You can find Tampax Pure and Clean and the Always Pure and Clean products at Walmart to try for yourself!

I was also super pumped to learn that Tampax and Always are the only Feminine Care brands in Smart Label! You can find everything you need to know about the products, including ingredients and sustainability by using the SmartLabel app, by going to smartlabel.org, or visiting the Tampax and Always brand pages.

  • Meal Prep on Sundays: This has been a GAME CHANGER! We always meal prepped a little but now we meal prep tons of easy snacks, grab and go foods, hard boiled eggs, smoothies, chicken breasts, sweet potatoes, and more! We also cut up tons of fresh fruit for the week like pineapple, strawberries, watermelon, etc. That way making meals for us and Liam is pretty quick and my little impatient sidekick doesn’t wait too long!
  • Eating As A Family: Now that Liam is a little older and eating more and more of what we eat we’ve been trying to eat as a family more. Before, Andrew and I would eat after Liam went to bed but it’s pretty fun to all sit together and eat! Liam really enjoys it and he’s so entertaining.
  • Cutting Cable: So this is the most recent change. I have never not had cable in my entire life! But about two months ago our cable went out during a storm and we couldn’t get it fixed for about a week. We realized how much we really don’t use it. So we decided to cut it! Best decision we’ve made. I will never go back.
  • Using A Smart Thermostat: This isn’t a super new change, but we’ve loved having a smart thermostat. It’s really helpful in the hotter months (hello Texas heat!) We can also control it when we travel so that we aren’t using a ton of energy!
  • Average Billing our electric bill: Andrew did this a while ago so that our electric bill was averaged out over the year and is the same amount every month. This really helps us budget better too!

What are some of the ways you are making small steps to live a little better in 2018?

Thank you to Tampax and Always Pure and Clean for partnering on this post.

I take my time to get things done the right way, instead of rushing myself to get it all done at once like I use to do.

Ahh, I love that you canceled your cable. My hubby and I keep talking about it and I think we’re finally going to do it. Between Netflix and Amazon Prime, we’ve pretty much got everything covered! 🙂

Living in Japan has been an adjustment towards these things. Here A/C and heating units are turned off whenever you aren’t home. Also, everything has a switch so when you leave nothing is using electricity (except the fridge).

I’m going to look into these tampon and pad products once I’m back in the states!
    Thanks for the share!

  13. I hadn’t heard of this new line but that’s awesome! I do like that more and more companies are coming out with clean products.
If I lived on my own, I’m not sure I’d have cable as I don’t really watch much TV either.

We are cutting back on our electric bill, starting with the habit of turning off the lights after we leave a room. Now that the weather is warmer, we use the grill more often than the oven or stove. That saves us on our electric consumption too.

  17. Change is good — I love that! Right now, meal prep is not an option as I crave more and more (pregnancy hormones). And since we will be having a baby soon, the change we will be having is adjusting ourselves to being parents.

I’m excited and scared both at the same time! I don’t know if this has anything to do with my hormones!!! 🙂
