Staying Organized in 2015

I am an organization freak and I wanted to tell you guys how I stay organized every year but mainly how staying organized in 2015 can make your life a little less complicated and make you feel better. Who wants to start their year off on the right note?? This is a great one to pin!

Organized

1. Make a Plan: Do you have certain goals in mind? Lose weight? Eat healthier? Blog 4 times a week? Send more mail to friends? Spend time with parents and friends more? We all have things we want to do and it all sounds great in our heads. But its easier if you make a plan of action. How are you going to accomplish these things? It can seem overwhelming but take it one step at a time.

2. Write it down! Key!!! Get a great planner and also there are ones that range from $5 to $100 you do not need a fancy planner. Just something you can plan and keep note of your goals, plans and accomplishments in. There are ones you can print offline as well. So don’t think you need to run out to get that planner everyone has. You do not and from someone who has done that let me tell you they tend to be a waste! Unless you buy an Emily Ley planner which I live by hahaha.  But in all seriousness writing things down is the best way to see right in front of you what you need to do and when you need to do it by.

3. Reward Yourself: Do you want a new purse? Maybe upgrade your phone or laptop? Even want a yummy cookie at the end of the day? Depending on what your goals are make a plan to reward yourself. For me at the end of each quarter I reward myself depending on how many of my goals I met. Not always a huge reward. Sometimes it’s a day off with a mani/pedi and walking around the mall alone. Sometimes it’s a Starbucks at the end of a really hard but great week. It helps to keep you going.

4. Tell People: When you tell people about your goals you are more likely to meet them and exceed them. I know talking to Andrew about my goals is very helpful. He helps keep me accountable and he is extremely supportive of all I do. I also talk to my close friends and family about my goals. Usually these are your biggest cheerleaders. You must surround yourself with people who lift you up and cheer you on. People support you at your best and help you and let you lean on them at your worst. Surround yourself with these people and you will meet your goals.

5. Make Everyday Count: Do not let a day go by where you do not do something towards your goals. Writing a book? Write 10 sentences. Better than nothing. Trying to lose weight? Do 5 minutes of sit ups. Better than nothing. Do something towards your goals daily!

What are you going to do to stay organized in 2015?

These are such great tips! My one word for 2015 is organize! I’m super organized in some areas of my life, but there are other areas (like my shoes in my closet) that really need help. I especially like #3 – reward yourself. Works for me. I’m going to incorporate these into my goal of being totally organized in 2015. Pinned!

    • I’m using a word too! Mine is Persist! I find it’s so much easier to follow than a long list of resolutions.

Totally agree with this! For me, telling people is huge. I decided to get rid of FB for the month of January…but I wasn’t quite sure I was going to follow through until I decided to post it on my own blog, haha. Now I feel like I have to since it’s public! But that’s a good think because it helps keep me accountable!

  27. Organization is definitely something I’m working on this year. I’m getting better about using (and color coding!) my planner, just started budgeting, and now I just need to de-clutter so that I can see what I have and what I need.

  28. You are so incredibly right with writing it down…I feel like I only accomplish things when I know I can cross them off my to-do list. Dork, I know. But at least I know what motivates me!

Love these tips, especially the last one! One of my goals for 2015 is moving into my own apartment and everyday I’ve been doing something to prepare, from decluttering to packing a box. Every little bit truly helps!
