The school year for my kids is winding down! Both will be done by May 25th which is less than a month away now. I always feel like after spring break things just fly by! Not only is the school year winding down but their spring activities are winding down. Now we are figuring out summer plans and kid milestones coming up with the school year ending.
Summer Plans and Kid Milestones
So Summer Plans…
Summers are tricky because you have to figure out camps. I went on a tangent with a friend recently about how insanely expensive camps are in the summer. Legit twice as much as school tuition! Anyways we decided on a day camp close to our house that both kids could attend. They also have some friends going as well which will be good for them. Then they are each doing a week-long camp for half the day every day. So Charlotte has a week of a half-day ballet camp and Liam has a week of a half-day bike riding camp. The first week of the summer we are taking them on a little trip to a beach in Texas. The last week of summer is usually school orientations, meet the teacher, etc. Other than that Charlotte will do ballet weekly and Liam will take Piano lessons. We don’t want to overbook them and I am glad they’ll be home at 3 each day. Plus we plan to have pretty low-key weekends!
So Kid Milestones…
Both kids have big milestones happening. Liam is graduating from Kindergarten and Charlotte is graduating from her toddler preschool program before she moves into the Primary program next year. Liam has an award ceremony at his elementary school and Charlotte has what’s called a bridge-over ceremony. I feel like these milestones are SO bittersweet. I am so excited for Liam to go to first grade and Charlotte to move to the upper part of preschooler but as they grow I do get a little sad.
Just a little bit of an update on where we are with life with the kiddos and their summer plans and kid milestones!
What are your kids’ summer plans?
I have always wanted to take my daughter to summer camp. I think I will do it this year, especially as she’s getting older and nothing little interests her anymore. Damn. I remember when something so small as a little teddy bear would keep her accompanied all day long.

Your kids are so darn adorable! I remember summer activities were at the same time fun and stressful to plan. Sounds like your family will make some great memories this summer.
I have not planned any for summer yet. But I definitely want to go camping!
Aaaawwww…the time has really flown by on us all. I recall seeing Liam and Charlotte in the pictures and they don’t even look the levels of schooling they’re heading into now. All the best for them.
Summer can be very tricky when you have kids accustomed to having a busy schedule! Your blog is very useful to those over-worried parents like me! Thank you!
Awww May 25 is coming up so soon for little Liam and Charlotte! Congrats on the upcoming graduations, I bet that feels so bittersweet!!
All the best to Liam and Charlotte on their when they start their new school year. Hope they’ll enjoy summer
I haven’t had any plan for my kids in the summer yet. This post just reminded me that I may need one for them. The summer is coming!
I think it’s a great idea to have a day camp that both kids could go to. Overnight camps might be too much for me to handle, so I would prefer day camps. Knowing that some of their friends will also attend would be comforting.
