At 40 years old finding shorts that work for not only my body but my age and stage of life can be tough. Most of my days are spent with my kids and I always want to make sure I am not only dressed appropriately but I am also comfortable. I know a lot of women struggle to find the best shorts for summer. I created this Summer Shorts guide for moms in case you struggle too!
Summer Shorts Guide For Moms
Denim: I find denim to be the hardest to find. I am not someone who wants to wear super short shorts. I am also incredibly picky. I have big hips, a butt, and a small waist so finding denim can be tricky. I also have muscular thighs. I have had the best luck with Frame denim and Agolde. These Agolde Parker shorts are the ones I wear all the time. This is my favorite pair of Frame shorts.
Dressy: I wouldn’t necessarily call all of these shorts dressy but they are a step up from denim. shorts you could absolutely wear with dressy shoes and a nice top. Loving these white shorts from Revolve. This is another pretty pair of white shorts from Shopbop.
Athletic: See below for biker shorts but other kinds of athletic shorts too. I love the Track That shorts from Lululemon the most. These Vuori shorts as well are amazing to lounge in or run errands.
Biker: I love the Beyond Yoga biker shorts, and Lululemon Align. Also if you ever go to Sams they have amazing Biker shorts but they are easier to find in store! These from Amazon are another favorite!

Shorts are a necessity when you live on the Gulf Coast like I do. I tend to prefer jean shorts because most any shirt matches, but I like to have a variety of shorts for different occasions.
I’m so picky with my shorts and over the years I’ve purchased so many that I’ve wound up hating after a couple of weeks just because they didn’t fit me right. However, you’ve got some great ones listed here!
Those are all great types of shorts and definitely a must, especially during summer. I am a denim lover so I mostly have those but will try other types though.
