Time Saving Vacation Packing Tips For A Family Of Four

We have a big trip coming up to Disney World in just a few days, and while I am very excited about this trip with my little family, the idea of having to be this organized and specific with packing definitely stressed me out. I really had to dig deep and figure out the best ways to pack and stay organized while also saving time and space! I feel like these time-saving vacation packing tips for a family of four will absolutely come in handy if you have any summer travels!

Time Saving Vacation Packing Tips For A Family Of Four

Keep a running list: My husband and I share a Google Keep list so that we are able to add things we need to pack leading up to a trip. I also have lists of things we need to do the day before, the morning of, and once we get there. I think lists are one of the things that keep me the sanest when traveling.

Plan outfits ahead of time: This is HUGE especially somewhere like Disney where you want to have matching shirts and specific things they wear for the different parks etc. I had another list on my phone of what outfits I wanted. Thankfully with a trip like Disney you really have to plan outfits ahead of time so you can order them and have them here. I found SO MANY good Etsy shops and small businesses with amazing deals and I will be sharing that in another post. For myself, I really tried to go off what friends said they were comfortable in and planned out what I would wear.

Buy what you can where you are going: I mostly mean this for things like food, diapers, etc. We are using Walmart+ for this trip to have a lot of snacks, diapers, wipes, and necessities delivered to our hotel. This saves a TON of room packing because we don’t need to pack a week’s worth of diapers, and other things that take up tons of room. We are also renting a double stroller and a crib! You can also try Walmart+ for 30 days to see if you even like it! Traveling is a great time to do that! — Not sponsored just a fan!

Label daily outfits for kids: This is not a new tip but something I try to do for any trip we go on. I use plastic ziplock bags and put clothes, socks, bows, underwear, etc for each kid and each day.  That way if I need Andrew to get Liam ready he knows “ok it’s Wednesday let me grab the Wednesday bag” and there are no questions. I think this also really helps with overpacking.

Use a planner: We are using an amazing planner for this Disney trip! She lives in our area and a TON of our friends have used her as well. She is a wealth of knowledge with a copious amount of tips and tricks that would have never crossed my mind. She actually sent us a packing list to go off of as well! If you are looking for a planner reach out and I am happy to pass her info along!

If you are traveling soon I hope these tips help you stay organized and feel a little saner leading up to your trip!

I make a list for every trip we go on. I have a basic one that is generic for all our travel (bathroom things, etc.) and then add specifics pertaining to each trip. I love the idea of separating outfits, though. I tend to overpack on clothes for those “what if” situations.

Great tips! I’d also add that on top of planning outfits ahead you can always take items of clothing that are diverse enough to wear in different ways! I always love doing this.

We are a family of 5 and it is always a little chaos whenever we are prepping for our family trips. Everything needs to be checked before zipping the luggage to avoid items that are not needed including overpacking.
