Tips-For-Feeling-Better-Post-Holidays

Those first few days after the holidays can be rough. New Years is over and you are thrust into hearing about everyone’s resolutions. Then you realize that you probably didn’t take that great care of yourself during the holiday times. Those extra glasses of champagne and all the sweets people brought into the office have left you feeling pretty bleh. Plus, you haven’t been getting enough sleep and now you feel sluggish. Also, when was the last time you went to the gym? No idea right? I want to share my best tips for feeling better post holidays with you today so that you can start your new year off right!

  1. Routine. It’s really all about a good routine after the holidays. Going to the gym 4-5 times a week, making sure you get 8 hours of sleep every night and sticking to a healthy eating regimen. Not to mention making sure you are taking care of yourself in other ways, like keeping up with tasks and taking care of your skin. Doing all of these things in a routine way and sticking to a schedule can make you feel great. I know for me I thrive on routines.
  2. Technology Fast. Turning off technology an hour before you are planning on going to sleep can really help with your sleep. Also how you are sleeping can really make a huge difference. I partnered with BeautyrestBrand and they sent me their Beautyrest Recharge Hybrid Mattress. The mattress is beyond comfortable! Having a great mattress when getting your sleep back on track after the holidays is really helpful. Making time to get your Beautyrest helps with post-holiday exhaustion.P1010009 P1010015 P1010025 P1010018 P1010016
  3. Get Out of your food rut. I tend to gravitate towards sweets during the holidays. Those cinnamon coffee cakes, pastries, monkeybread– all of it just calls my name. So after the holidays I have a hard time getting back into a good meal planning routine. This is where Pinterest comes in handy. It’s perfect for finding healthy new recipes to add to our rotation. Having some healthy recipes on hand that are easy to make will make you less likely to opt for take out and unhealthy dinners.
  4. Get a workout buddy. Finding a friend to hit the gym with after the holidays is a good way to keep yourself accountable. Tapping someone you know will push you and motivate you can also be very fun. Even if it isn’t going to the gym and you just meet for walks or runs around your neighborhood a few days a week can be great motivation in the new year.
