Typical Beauty Routine

This post is sponsored by Hair Food. All opinions are my own.

I remember when I was pregnant with Liam and I started to get the “just waits” you know what I mean right? The “just wait you will never sleep again!” Or “Just wait you will never have time to shower.” I remember thinking with those two especially that sleeping and showering were big priorities I would for sure make time for. We are pretty lucky that minus a few random nights Liam has always been a high needs sleeper and sleeps great. With the showering thing I can assure you I never have missed a shower. But, as a busy mom my typical beauty routine is a little different depending on the day. Today I want to share my typical beauty routine when I have ALL THE TIME aka when my husband is home or Liam is at school.

Typical Beauty Routine

Hair: I wash my hair usually twice a week. Sometimes 3 times but usually just twice. I find that this is the way my hair specifically stays healthiest. Lately I have been using the Hair Food purifying collection. The great thing about it or one of them is that it’s sulfate free. Since I get Keratin treatments I have to use a sulfate free shampoo and conditioner. They are also free of parabens, mineral oils, and dyes.

You guys know I am always trying to use more clean products free of bad stuff so using hair food is a no brainer. Hair food believes that what you put on your hair is just as is important as what you eat. Which makes sense. What we put on our body should be just as important as what we put IN our body! When I started using hair food I noticed a difference right away. Honestly, it’s amazing what happens when we stop putting bad stuff in our bodies/on our hair and start using whole natural ingredients. Almost like when you go from drinking tons of soda to green smoothies and you just FEEL GOOD! Hair Food offers three other varieties to fit your hair needs: Nourishing, Smooth, and Moisture! So whatever hair woes you have they have you covered.

I also only use heat on my hair twice a week! I blow dry it and I flat iron it but never two days in a row!

Skin: My skin is something I try to care for as much as possible. When it comes to my face I wash my face morning, after the gym, and at night. This is what works for my skin! Maybe not for everyone. You can check out my most recent skincare routine here. I try to use face masks as often as possible. A few favorites are the Tata Harper resurfacing mask, Summer Fridays jet lag mask, and First Aid Beauty Oatmeal Mask. I also use an exfoliator on my body a few times a week and I started dry brushing a few months ago. These things are really helping my skin feel so much healthier. I try to use an ice roller on my face and under my eyes each day for de-puffing and bonus it works if you have a migraine too!

I think it’s important to take time for your skin, hair, and body. These are things that only you have control of. This doesn’t have to mean spending 45 minutes on makeup everyday. But just using ingredients that are GOOD for you and putting time into the parts of a typical beauty routine that truly matter in the long-term. That’s the great thing about hair food. You are using ingredients that are good! Ingredients that you already put in your body and use. You don’t have to worry about the possible bad stuff.

Tell me one item you use in your typical beauty routine?

  1. I spend a lot of time on my skin and hair but I neglect my body a little, haha… time to bust out the body lotion and exercise a little more! 😛 Thanks for sharing your beauty routine, Neely. 🙂

I just realized I really need to get a few new skin masks. I was my hair nearly every day, but with short, oily hair that looks nuts when I wake up it’s kind of a must unfortunately 🙁

I washed my hair nightly until about a year ago. Washing every few days seems to be gentler on it. I am on the hunt for paraben free hair product, so I will be giving this a try. Thanks for the recommendation.

  9. I also wash my hair only twice a week as that is sufficient for me. I also have read several times that the more often you wash your hair, the quicker it will get oily.

I wish I could get to washing my hair less often, but it gets so oily. I may have to try this Hair Food and see if it helps mine. I don’t do much to it, just shampoo, rinse, brush, and go. I don’t ever dry or add other products to my hair. But I am with you, I still shower every day even with little kids.

I currently have extensions in my hair, which means I also have to use sulfate free products. The Hair Food line seems very beneficial without the extra chemicals. Perfect for me!

Ever since I started working from home full time, I’ve become super low maintenance. I just always make sure to put moisturizer every day and SPF every time I go out. PS: Liam is already at school??? Time flies.

Your photography is as beautiful as your hair! I’ve never really put thought into hair products. That’s the one area in my daily routine that I unfortunately leave for last if I have any time left for it. I love both tea tree and lavender and I think you may have just convinced me to try it!

I’ve never heard of this brand before, but now I am curious. I’ll have to check it out the next time I go to Fred Meyer. I love trying new products, especially ones with good ingredients. PS I also love the Resurfacing Mask from Tata Harper!
