Why it’s not too early to start using anti-aging skin care products

You’re not even thirty yet – why would you bother investing in anti-aging skincare products? They’re designed for older people who have already noticed wrinkles, right? Not at all! The perk to using anti-aging skincare products earlier in life is that they’ll keep signs of aging at bay. Why would you wait until you noticed signs of aging to start trying to prevent more?

When’s a Good Time to Begin?

There’s no magic age when a woman should toss out her remaining beauty products and replace them with anti-aging products. If you feel like it’s time to start preparing your skin for the future, then it’s time! Before you’re out of your teenage years may be a bit too young, but who’s to say you can’t protect your skin from wear in your twenties?

Some brands recommend beginning an anti-aging regime in your 20s, while other brands feel like it is necessary only after your 30th birthday. Ideally, though, the way you care for your skin should follow your own skin concerns. Did you bake in the sun a lot during your high school days? Sun damage may be a problem, in which case it’s important to protect your skin from any further damage. Have you always protected your clear, supple skin and you really love the products you’re using in your mid-twenties? You can probably wait a bit longer to switch up your beauty line.

Some people have lifestyles that promote aging of the skin, in which case the earlier an anti-aging regime, the better. If you smoke, drink alcohol often or spend more nights up late then tucked in bed, your skin’s going through regular punishment. Also, if your job or hobby requires you to spend a lot of time outside, your exposure to the sun and other natural elements means that without protection, you could notice sun damage and wrinkles early on.

Types of Anti-Aging Products

There are all types of anti-aging products on shelves today. Creams, moisturizers, serums and masks all come in anti-aging forms, with specific ingredients to keep skin moisturized and ward off fine lines and wrinkles. Many of these products contain retinol, peptides and sunscreen.

Benefits of Anti-Aging Products

There are a host of benefits to using anti-aging products:

• Clear skin
• Wrinkle prevention
• Healthy skin
• Preparation for applying makeup

Anti-aging skincare products are great for your skin in a number of ways. A good way to tell if you’re using the products too early is if you don’t notice a difference in your skin after regular use. For example, what may work on a woman in her early thirties may have no impact on a woman in her early twenties.

Popular Anti-Aging Skincare Brands

If you’re interested in starting an anti-aging skincare regime, look for products from La Mer, Isomers, Clinique and Olay. You can find great anti-aging products in your neighborhood pharmacy or, if you’re willing to spend a bit more of your paycheck on beauty products, at department stores.

I’m all about anti-aging and I’m only 21. Even though my family has great genes, I still freak out about my skin. Even though my family is Italian and we are known for using baby oil in the sun and tanning beds yet we still look at least ten years younger than we are, I exfoliate regularly. I think I’m expecting everyone’s lack of aging to catch up with me one day, ha!

  3. I started using anti-aging cream at around my 30, because I thought I might feel grateful for it when 40. This has constituted my only beauty ritual so far, apart from shaping eyebrows, which I started doing a few years later.

  4. loved this! Very well written!

I’m now 25 and my mom always said that 25 was the right age to start ‘taking care’ of your skin in order to prevent wrinkles. Coincidentally I received anti-aging serum by Dermology that I heard and like, and I now bought a really high SPF because everyone said it’s so important and apply on my skin. My skin is really good now 🙂

At a young age (teenager) you should start a good skin care routine is not necessarily Anti-Aging. However one vital product that acts as an anti-aging product is Sunscreen , particularly in harsh climates. Using sunscreen at any age will protect the skin and prevent premature aging.
