Winter Hair Survival Tips

When the cold months come I feel like everything gets dry. My skin is dry, my hands are dry, my hair is super dry and a little meh. I wanted to share some of my winter hair survival tips. Don’t worry, I asked an expert!

Winter Hair Survival Tips

Switch up your routine: My favorite way to switch up my hair routine is to try a new shampoo and conditioner. Recently I picked up the Hello Hydration Moisturizing Shampoo and Conditioner Holiday Pack from Walmart! It helps you deck your hair with ultimate hydration. After a few washes I noticed a huge difference in my hair. It is so much softer and feels way less dry and blah! These would make AMAZING Christmas gifts! There are 4 different holiday hair care packs to choose from and they are only $9.98! Not only does the pack come with shampoo and conditioner, but also comes with Totally Twisted Curl Boosting mousse and dry shampoo to perfectly style and add volume to your holiday hair. Basically, a holiday hair survival kit!

Don’t overuse heat: It can be tempting to dry and flat iron or curl your hair every day, but try to only do it once or twice a week to reduce damage! It makes hair colors, and styles last so much longer and keeps your hair a lot healthier!

Shampoo less often: Along with cutting back on heat, you should also cut back on the amount of times during the week you shampoo! I try to only do this once or twice a week. In the meantime you can try out the amazing Herbal Essence dry shampoo that comes in the holiday pack!

Try a hair mask: Every other week I do a hair mask! I tend to buy different ones but they are so great to do and really detox your hair. We detox our bodies, we do face masks when our skin needs extra help, we have to treat our hair the same way!

I would love to know if you have any winter hair survival tips you’d want to share?

This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Herbal Essences at Walmart. The opinions and text are all mine.

  1. I don’t change my hair routine much during winter – year round I wash my hair every three days, never use heat-styling and always air-dry anyway. That said, I could definitely do with a hair mask right now! 🙂 ❤️

I used to use herbal essences exclusively, but it seemed like every time I found one I liked they would discontinue it. I don’t do heat on my hair ever, so that helps keep mine from getting too brittle in the winter.

The winter season can be brutal to my natural hair and so I use more moisturizing creams that help. I’m familiar with the product you use too.

  14. Come winter I struggle the most with heat. Wet hair and I don’t like to exist and so my blow dryer is my best friend but my hair does so much better when I don’t use one!

I only shampoo my hair twice a week. Shampoos strip my hair and scalp of its natural oils, plus the added factor of dry cold air in winter can really damage my hair making it look dull and frizzy. I believe I have used Herbal Essences before. I will try their new line. Adding this to my grocery list this weekend.
