Each year I try to start at least one new habit. Usually, something involving wellness and overall health and something I can build upon. There are 3 new habits I’m forming in 2023 that I am really excited about and really excited to see what comes from them.

3 New Habits I’m Forming In 2023
Morning Brain Dumps: I was listening to a wellness podcast and the person on it talked about how much brain dumps lower anxiety. As someone who has struggled with anxiety basically since early childhood, this was interesting to me. I do it my own way where I have a spiral notebook (think cheap from Walmart) and each page is a different day. Each day has several small lists: work, personal, etc. I write down all the things big and small I need to do. At the very bottom, I write down things on my mind that I need to get done or follow up on, etc. I have found my brain is far less cluttered this way.
Running: I used to be more of a runner many many years ago. But kids, life, work, it became something I didn’t love anymore. When a neighbor texted asking if anyone was wanting to run a few mornings a week I jumped at the chance. We meet 3 mornings a week at 5:30 and only do about 2 miles but after not running outside for years this is something I feel like a newbie about! I run on a treadmill all the time but this is different. I do love how I feel after though!
Minimal Alcohol: So this is something I go in and out of. I am by NO MEANS a heavy drinker but I will go in phases where I have a glass of wine every night for several weeks and then take a break. I am doing dry January (actually I am doing dry till mid-Feb because we went on a trip in January). After that what I would like to do is only have drinks on Fridays and Saturdays and the rest of the week enjoy tea at night. So far so good!
I would love to know if you are forming any new habits this year! Share below!

All these are great advice! This year I really want to make several changes to improve my mental and overall health. Whether it’s going to bed earlier, limit my time on my phone, etc. so I’ll just add these to my list of healthy habits! Thank you so much for sharing!
I am doing no spend January! As for new habits, I am just working on being more consistent with my passion!
Perfect advice. I’m all about brain dumps and less alcohol. Sound thoughts for a new year!
I don’t drink, except maybe champagne or mimosas on special occasions. I think to do minimal drinking is a great goal!
I would love to start painting or baking this year. It’s not a habit but its something Im interested in right now.
Would also love to do the morning brain dumps, it sounds refreshing and releases negative thoughts before going on your day.
I love hte running. I am a runner myself and it really does make a difference in my days.
These are all great habits to develop! I love the idea of having a morning brain dump! I need to try that.
All of these sound like great habits to start! I am working on getting into a skincare routine to help my skin improve and I am also working on cutting out most bread type products.
I like your new habits. I would add meditation or afternoon tea alone to my list. Definitely, I need more free time and harmony.
I also started doing some new habits this year 2023. I started with Yoga exercise and learning how to play violin.
I would like to be outdoors more this year. And return to travelling.
I totally agree with you that brain dumps help though I usually do this the night before and not in the morning. Having these small lists is so effective and it helps me get things done. I am able to function properly when my brain is less cluttered too.
Gurl, I love you much much more for dropping more alcohol from your life and running more! I want to tell you that you will only regret not having done it earlier.
These are all really good habits. Exercise is always beneficial when we do it regularly.
My anxiety is bit in control now but since last 2 days I’m not that good. But yes your new habits are good. As for me, I have decided to stop being sweet to everyone. Since past few years after my accident I had been a pushover. Now I had decided to stand up for myself.
