5 Non-Selfish Things I Do For Myself Every Day

I think as moms it can be easy to feel selfish for doing things for yourself. I personally think the opposite. As moms, the ONLY way we can fill everyone’s cups is to fill ours first. There are non-selfish things I do for myself every day that 100% make me a better mom and a happier person which in turn makes my kids see that it’s good to do things for yourself. I wanted to share 5 Non-Selfish things I do for myself every day that you should consider adding to your list.

5 Non-Selfish Things I Do For Myself Every Day

Exercise first thing: Every morning I work out first thing. Andrew gets the kids up and gets them breakfast and I am VERY lucky for this. He knows how important it is to me and is such a good partner in that respect.

Read: Reading truly brings me joy. It also provides an escape when things feel heavy and it’s something that settles me. Especially at night.  Check out my book recs here. I also recently started a bookstagram account.

Connect with people important to me: This may mean going for a walk with a friend, having a FaceTime chat, sending Marco Polo messages, or talking on the phone. I need to connect with people daily. It’s so important to me.

Take walks: If the weather allows for it I try to take a walks every day. Either with Charlotte, a friend or by myself. The fresh air really does wonders.

Take care of my skin: This is a no-brainer. Doing my morning and evening skincare routine every day is a non-negotiable. I don’t care if I am sick, busy, or whatever. I always make time to make sure my skincare routine is done and my SPF is on.

What is something you make sure you do for yourself every day?

  2. I have been awful with keeping up with a self-care routine this year as I am caring for a parent who experienced back-to-back medical emergencies this year. I need to get back into the swing of it, I miss that time to focus on myself!

I’m not a morning person, but I like the idea of doing exercise before work. I do manage the occasional walk later in the day, but I need to do more.

Every night I read and really make it a priority but I’d love to do more things because we do need to take care of ourselves to be better mums, and also feel happier.

  8. Not yet a mom but I do agree with your list. I’m a busy person, but we still need to have some time to exercise and have some me time.

There is nothing wrong with prioritizing yourself first. When we know how to take care of ourselves, we can also care holistically for others.
