5 Mom Cave Must Haves

We’ve all heard the term man cave right? Well you know what? Moms need a mom cave! After a day of changing diapers, going to play groups, swimming lessons, cleaning up spit up, and having baby shark songs stuck in my head, sometimes I need a time and place to relax a bit. Enter mom caves! Yes, it’s a thing. Today I am going to share 5 mom cave must haves and how to create your own mom cave!

5 Mom Cave Must Haves

A Space: First you need a space. The great thing about a mom cave is that most moms aren’t that picky. It can be your bedroom, a guest room, the living room, whatever. Just a space where you can go and you can say “I need a few hours in this space to myself.” I chose our guest room because it’s decorated super cute and I can close the door! It’s also close enough to the nursery where if Liam is sleeping and he needs me I am close by!

A TV/Accessories: During my relaxing mom time I like to catch up on DVR shows or watch movies that Andrew isn’t a huge fan of. As much as I love the TV in our guest room I hated the TV stand and really wanted it mounted. One, it saves a ton of room and two is just looks better! So we partnered with ECHOGEAR to mount our TV. It was insanely easy like even I could do it! ECHOGEAR is a great place to get mounts for most any TV and you really can’t beat how  easy it is. The box came with everything we needed and it took no time at all. We decided on the mount we chose because it made the most sense for our room. We didn’t need it to rotate, but this allows us to angle it down towards the bed for optimal viewing.  Now we have a lot more space and the room just looks a TON better! Major upgrade! It will be so much better for us and guests when they visit. I also suggest something like a Chromecast to access Netflix, Hulu, etc!

(Before)

(After-sooooo much better)

Comfy Things: I love that Andrew let me decorate our guest room because I made it pretty girlie and put a lot of throw pillows and blankets in there. He is not a huge fan of that stuff so when I am having my me time in there I really appreciate the decor ha! The duvet on the bed is so soft and comfortable as is the bed itself. Plus furry pillows and cozy blankets? Nothing makes me relax easier!

Beverages: Hello wine time? Or coffee time? Really depending on the time of day and your preference you have to have a good beverage. Since my mom cave time tends to come at night, once Liam has gone to sleep I like to pour myself a glass of wine (really into Sauvignon Blanc at the moment) and sometimes I will pop some kettle corn too! Delish combo!

Your Favorite Things: If I don’t have much to watch or if I am in a reading mood I will take my iPad up there and read. I will also light some yummy candles (hello fall pumpkin scents) and if I am feeling really fancy even put some fresh flowers on the nightstand!

I know these things will vary person to person, but ladies hear me out… You need a mom cave! We all work hard either inside or outside the home (for most people BOTH!) so mamas deserve a little down time and space to themselves too!

So tell me, what would you have in your mom cave?

This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of ECHOGEAR. The opinions and text are all mine.

  1. Love your mom cave ideas… but for mine, I must have something to munch on. I love the idea of freshly baked muffins or a decadent cake. I get stressed with a kid at home sometimes so either forget to eat or wolf down my meals. To me, nothing beats eating slowly alone savouring every bite and no one whining next to me and asking for a bite.

  3. I currently have 2 spaces I claim as my mom cave: my office and my bedroom, but I dream of the day when I can have a dedicated room of my own! These are definitely things we all need in ours!

I love this! When I bought my house there was a TV mount already installed. I’d never used one before. I LOVED it! It really freed up space and made the room feel bigger. Now that I live with Joey, I also have turned the guest room into a cozy, girly get away. Since I’m not a mom I’ll just call it the “pretty cave” :).

I think I already have a cave – our little library. All my books are there and I have a comfy seat to read in while sipping my favourite tea (or wine, depends on the kind of day I had!)

Taking a cue from my neighbors dog Muffin when she was expecting. She went through the house and one-at-a-time picked up little things she loved and dragged them into her corner. A soft blanket that had a smell on it that she loved, something to snack on for later, favorite shoe(s) and something entertaining that brought her hours of joy. Even after the puppies came and went, she still loved her personalized space. 😉

I love this idea. I would love to have a space I can call a “mom cave.” We have an office that me and my husband share. Let me see if we can have some more space in the house to convert into a “mom cave” with an adjacent “dad cave” so he won’t be jealous. 🙂

Love this! Our bedroom is slightly my mom cave as we don’t really have any other places to put one! I need to make some adjustments to it but one day I would love a second space I could make into a mom cave!

  21. Oh my, I LOVE the idea of a mom cave!! I would love a place to do my morning coffee and devotions away from the noise of the kids! It’s on my “hopes and dreams” list to create a cozy little nook in our bedroom. A comfy chair, a cozy blanket, a table to set my coffee on, and a basket for all my books is all I need to be happy! One of these days …

Loving this ‘mom cave’ idea! It would be nice to have a room for us to retreat too haha! I would add a ‘spa’ area so I could finally accomplish much needed manicure/pedicures!

  27. I’ve basically taken over our bedroom for my personal space (the kids have overrun the rest of the house). I don’t keep a TV in there, but I’ll use the ipad occasionally. I like to use my lap-desk for any computer work or writing.
