6 Tips To Not Fall Into A Winter Depression

Make Plans: Having plans with friends or family is key to not falling into a depression. The more you are alone or at home the harder it is.

Exercise: There is a reason they say (Elle Woods at least) that endorphins make you happy. I find that by ticking my workouts up in the winter it helps my mental health so much. Trying new workouts gives you something to look forward to. Even trying a new workout studio could be a great way to meet new people.

Get Outside When You Can: Even if it’s cold try to go outside! Especially when it’s sunny. It’s so easy to stay inside when it’s cold but being outside does such amazing things for you.

Pick Up A New Hobby: Maybe you want to learn to play Mahjong with a group of friends, or take up needlepointing. Winter is a great time to try new things.

Consume Happy Content: Do not read unhappy books, or watch sad movies, or consume content online that makes you feel bad about yourself. That is only going to make things worse. One thing I want to do more of this year is unfollow accounts that make me feel bad about myself and I suggest everyone do that.

Take Vitamins: Being sick in the winter is NOT fun and will definitely not help depression. Take your vitamins, take care of your body and treat it well.
