November Goals

First of all HAPPY HALLOWEEN! I am posting this post a day early but it’s fine, October is basically over right? We are expecting about 200 trick-or-treaters tonight! We had that many last year, but this year we are prepared! Our pumpkin is carved and we are excited to see the cute kiddos in costumes. Crazy to think next year we will be taking our 9 month old trick-or-treating! Well probably not, but we will put him in a costume. Anyways, time to share my November Goals and see what I got done in the month of October!

November Goals

November Goals

In October I wanted to…

  • Read 7 books. I feel like two trips with long plane rides can help this a lot. Especially since our babymoon is very relaxing. I have read 6 but I am in the middle of my 7th so close!
  • Actually organize the linen closet. I swear this will happen at some point. We did clear out a shelf of it though!
  • Make some playroom progress. We have done this. We hung some wall art, and have some of his toys in there.
  • Figure out our holiday cards – I like to mail them the week of Thanksgiving. We are taking some photos this month to use on holiday cards and I narrowed it down to one card so once we get the photos we are ready to roll!
  • Start working on blog posts for when baby boy comes. I plan to have about 2 months of posts written. The kinds of posts that can post anytime, so I need to start on those. Oooof I have a list but none written.
  • Work on more evergreen content for the blog. I did this a little! Lots of fun stuff coming.
  • Outside of our trip, have at least one good fun date night with Andrew. We went out for our anniversary which was really fun!
  • Have breakfast with my dad one weekend. This sadly did not happen, but I did see my dad!
  • Knock some items off our pre-baby house list. We sort of did this. His nursery is completely done aside from things from our registry. But things are put away, hung, and put together.

In November I want to…

  • Read 5 books. It’s a busy month so that seems realistic.
  • Get most of our pre-baby house list done
  • Write thank you notes from my first shower, which is in less than 2 weeks
  • Pass my glucose test
  • Get 10 blog posts written for February (his due date is early Feb)
  • Start getting tax stuff together for January
  • Start my holiday shopping and try to get most of it done
  • Have at least one date night with Andrew
  • Spend more time with my parents. I see mom once a week, which has been great but I need to spend more time with my dad.
  • Make a point to call my grandparents at least once a week

What are some of your November Goals?

  1. I am trying to get in the habit of calling my grandparents once a week as well. There’s really no reason why I can’t, but I find that weeks and weeks come and go without me calling. I want to start doing better.

As a new first time mama with a 6 week old on my chest since 4AM… I urge you to add “rest” to this list! 🙂 I am giggling at myself for spending so much time cleaning and scrubbing before our baby got here. I guess it’s those nesting hormones, but my new mom self would tell my pre-mom self, “put down the magic eraser and NAP!” Haha!

  5. 200 trick or treaters! That is a lot! We usually only get a handful! I joined the app NextDoor for our neighborhood and it seems like so many people are not wanting kids to come to their door so I think that is why we don’t get a lot. They probably go to a different neighborhood. I wish we had more! We are taking our anniversary photos next week and I can’t wait to start putting together our holiday cards!

Gosh, I have to start getting my tax stuff ready, too. Eww, do not want. Also love that you are getting two months ahead with your blog post writing, that’s incredible!! And will be a big help when baby is here 🙂

Hope you have a very happy Halloween and that you get a lot of trick or treaters… we usually get a few but I haven’t decided if I’m going to get candy yet since I’m likely going out. Plus, don’t the kids just take them all when you leave them in a basket outside??

I have a question for you! Do you ever feel bad about planning and writing posts in advance? I did it for a while and absolutely loved how it was working out for me. I felt so productive and prepared! But then one day I started feeling guilty because I feel as though most bloggers sit down every day and write up a post, which is unrealistic for me with my hectic schedule. Have you ever felt this way? Or do you have any tips to get over feeling guilty over this? Thanks Neely!

  9. I’d love to read more books as well. I do love to read and have frequently been known to not allow myself enough time to relax and do it.

  11. 200 trick or treaters sounds like an overwhelming amount! I don’t think my husband and I will get any this year, but I’m not completely sure. Last year we were at a friend’s party, so we didn’t get any that we know of, so this will be our first year at home to see if they come.

I’m really jealous of your 200 trick or treaters. We live on a street in a neighborhood that doesn’t have a lot of young children, so we hardly see any. Like maybe 10-15. Its sad really. My husband is a total kid a heart, so he finds it disappointing. Sure we obviously have to spend far less on tiny candy bars than you do, but Halloween for us isn’t very exciting at all.

I keep telling him that we need to do some over the top decorating. The whole “if you build it, they will come” sort of thing. He is skeptical. I’m already pinning ideas for next year.

What a great list of November goals, may you reach each of those goals and beyond 😉 I have a goal to get my new blog up and running since I sold Happily Blended 🙂 Also my goal is to free up more time for customer service on our sites Roundups.io and RetweetChores.com so I can help my boyfriend/biz partner on that end of our business more. Also to be there more for the kids by playing board games a couple times a week so they can see their Mama loves spending time with them 🙂 We got kinda busy with my boyfriend getting hurt so I feel like November is all about getting back on track 🙂

You’re getting so much closer to your due date!! I had no idea it was only a few months away at this point. That’s so exciting! I feel like my October goals went pretty well, but you definitely did better than I did haha I’m hoping November is much better around here. I really love that you put phone calls to your grandparents on your list. I need to get better at this too. I need to get better at phone calls in general right now haha I lived within 30 minutes all family this past year so a phone call was never needed, but now I’m over 3,000 miles away on the other side of the country. So I need to get better about that. I’m definitely adding it to my mental list 🙂

OMG 200 kids is crazy! We maybe had 50 kids Sunday night. It was a lot less than last year. Good luck on getting everything done this month! I’m debating on sending out Christmas cards. We just mailed our Save The Dates 2 weeks ago and that was a lot of stamps. Would you recommend mailing Christmas cards since we just did Save The Dates? Happy November!

I love putting my monthly goals up on my blog as it gives me that kick in the backside to actually do stuff. Good motivation if it is out there. I would love to read more and also speak to my gran more often than I do. It used to be once a week but with everything going on now it’s more like once a fortnight which is not great.

Great goal! I used to do a goal post every month, but I have kind of lost track of doing that, maybe I will start again as I love the idea so much. 7 books is a huge goal, on a good month the most I can manage is maybe 4 or 5. Good luck with all your goals!
