4 Ways To Recover Your Skin (Post Holiday)

Halloween is coming up fast and furious, like this weekend! WHAT!? OK It’s on Monday, but still most adults go out the weekend before (or at least they did last time I went out for Halloween). Anyways holidays like Halloween, and then the upcoming Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years can wreck havoc on your skin! Seriously, I think I see the most damage to my skin this time of year. So with Halloween coming up in a few days I thought I would share 4 Ways To Recover Your Skin (Post Holiday).

4 Ways To Recover Your Skin (Post Holiday)

Get Your Skin In Order:

These holidays are times when we tend to wear a little more makeup and have a few more nights out than usual. I know for Halloween makeup is a big deal. Maybe you are wearing heavy makeup to age you or maybe just going crazy with the eye makeup, but either way that mixed with the late night and the alcohol intake can do a number on your skin! So I always suggest a good skin detox day. This is a day with no makeup but you are really giving your skin a little extra TLC. I personally like using a good cleanser like the Spa At Home Melting Cleanser to really get the crap out of my skin. What I love about the cleanser is that it is specifically made to get waterproof makeup off of your skin. I know for me this is something I struggle with a lot. Then I follow it up with the Luminizing Charcoal Peel Off Mask. You have heard me rave about how much I love peel off masks, and charcoal masks are especially great for purifying your skin and cleaning out your pores. Makeup buildup stands no chance against this stuff! These products are BOTH available at Walgreens. A few things to note:

  • If you are doing it all over your face, pull your hair back. I was just doing a few spots this time.
  • I needed a couple of the sample pouches in order to get the full, opaque coverage recommended.
  • Do it over the sink because in its liquid form, it can be a bit drippy!!
  • You must, must let it dry 100% before peeling

Step Up Your Water:

Water intake really slacks when we have fun parties to attend or events. You are more likely to go for the champagne or a fruity beverage than grabbing a bottle of water. My suggestions are to first drink a huge tumbler or bottle of water on your way to Halloween party or fun work event. Then for every non-water beverage you consume also consume a glass of water. This will help you stay more hydrated. When you are dehydrated your skin shows the signs!

Get Your Food Together:

Post parties it’s always a good idea to make something yummy to eat. I suggest starting your day after with a giant green smoothie and then maybe sticking to lean proteins, veggies, and grains for a week or so to really detox your body. Your skin is more likely to break out when you are eating lots of sugar and greasy foods, so really up your veggie intake.

Sleep It Off:

This time of year we are also hit with daylight saving time. While gaining that hour of sleep is great, we are also more prone to staying out late. Try to get at least eight hours of sleep. Especially if you have a night or two where you stay out late, really make it a point to take a few nights to get some good quality sleep. Lack of sleep shows up on your skin really fast, so combat that as quickly as you can.

These 4 ways to recover your skin post holiday will really help you in the long run!

I would love to know any tricks you have for recovering from holidays!

I couldn’t agree more on the water intake issue and the “sleeping it off” 😉
When I don’t sleep enough I look & feel like I aged about 20 years, it’s awful. And keeping myself hydrated did actually do wonders for my skin. I had really had any issues with it but since I increased my water intake I actually feel comfortable going out with any makeup/powder/concealer on.
Thanks for other two tips, they’re defs going on my list 🙂

  11. These are great tips! I consume so much water, that really helps. I also wash my face every night and try to most mornings. I apply night cream before heading to bed and day time facial lotion before applying making. It really helps to prime my skin for any make up I may use. 🙂

Drinking extra water definitely helps the skin. I also find that drinking extra alcohol around the holidays can be really dehydrating so a good moisturizer is a must-have for me.
