I never thought of myself as someone who collects things. I then realized over time there are things I collect either on purpose or completely because I am a hoarder of certain items. Things I collect may seem kind of silly but who cares! I always find it interesting to know what others collect.
Things I Collect
Coffee Table Books: This is the only thing on my list that is something I collect on purpose. In high school my mom gave me a really cool coffee table book. Since then every single Christmas and Birthday I have asked for at least one, if not 5. My favorites are home decor, but I also love ones relating to fashion and style. They are ALL OVER our house (much to Andrew’s dismay) but I love them.
Mugs: This was never on purpose. But any time I see a cute or quippy mug I buy it. My favorite places to snag them are Homegoods and TJ Max. They always have the best deals!
Board Games: Board games are one of my favorite things to do. We have so many and I have been collecting them for years. When we moved in together I actually got rid of a ton of them but I have added more and more to them every single year. My favorites are Apples To Apples and Monopoly.
Butterflies and Owls: I have been collecting decor butterflies and owls since college. For our wedding we were gifted several Baccarat butterflies and they are some of my favorite decor items in our home.
Notebooks: This is NOT on purpose but I can’t help it. Set me loose in Target or Marshalls and I am bound to come home with a cute notebook. I have an entire bin full of them. Can’t stop, won’t stop!
Makeup: As a blogger I get sent a lot of items. At least 3 times a week a box of makeup appears on my porch, so lets just say I have quite the collection of makeup. If it’s an item that doesn’t work for my skin or something I can’t use I either donate it or gift it to friends and family members but I love me some makeup!
See, the things I collect aren’t exciting or crazy but over the years I have noticed patterns.
I am such a huge notebook hoarder too. I was WORSE when I was younger. I’ve been a bookworm, a writer and an artist my whole life, and I loved shopping at stationery stores. Every time I went on vacation I’d come back with a new bag of papers and pens…

What a great idea for a blog post, it is a great collab odea. I totally get your mug collection, I always love the ones at TK Max and Marshalls especially gold or floral ones. Coffee table books are beautiful, they make me feel so grownup and somehow they make my home look more together. Plus I have the same makeup problem.
I have a huuuuuuge novelty coffee mug collection. I’m thinking about downsizing though, so I plan to sell/auction them all online and donate the $ to a local women’s shelter. I love my collection but it’s just too much for one person haha
I collect a lot of mugs and a lot of owls. And a lot of owl mugs haha! My college mascot was an owl so you can guess how many owl things I received from everyone as gifts when I was enrolled! (I still ask for owls though because I just can’t get enough.)
I also collect mugs and I have started a little collection of trinkets from different places we visit. Someday I hope to put them in a nursery!

WELL, I’d LOVE to collect all the things. I’m real good at it. I like collecting mugs. For a while, it was shot glasses. I’m really big on collecting my students’ work. But then, when my mom comes to visit me, somehow, some of those things go missing. She’s really big on tossing things out. She doesn’t like clutter. It’s a love-hate relationship. I love that she clears out clutter from my life. But I hate that some of my most” prized possessions” go missing!
The only thing I really collect is refrigerator magnets. They’re my favorite inexpensive souvenir from trips, and I love that they’re always on display.
I love this post! I collect mugs too! Every time I see a cute mug for a great deal I have to buy it!! I also collect cute items that have butterflies on them that I can use for decor.
Apparently I collect clocks- it wasn’t intentional- I just love them. One day my grandma brought me this gorgeous, antique mantle clock from her house and said “since you collect clocks I thought you’d like this”. It was the first time I realized I had 4 clocks in one room ???
My mug and travel cup collections seem to have grown exponentially these past few years. Between vendors and contractors giving us Yetis and water bottles with their logos or finding the cutest mugs in Target, Marshalls or wherever I’ve run out of room in my cabinets!
Me and my boyfriend are total board game hoarders too! Our most recent addition to the collection is The Walking Dead monopoly, which is AMAZING! I love little posts like this
I love ALL those things. Now that I became a mom I have a hoarder worthy stash of kids’ items I can’t give up, like the outfit they wore home from the hospital, their favorite paci and little toys they loved.
I need to start collecting mugs because we never seem to have enough coffee cups around here. I collect a lot of things…not exciting, but I like them too. I collect Hello Kitty stuff, purses, and anything elephant.

I grew up with a mom who has TONS of collections. She has her own antique shop and our house always had so many things in it. I only collect one thing: Christmas Nativities from around the world. I only put them out in December. I can’t stand the clutter otherwise.
I don’t really collect things – unless you count photos. I take photos constantly and actually print them out…but putting them in albums in an entirely different story.
I happen to believe that TJX stores were specifically designed to create hoarders of cute notebooks and mugs. I have to talk myself out of buying them on every single trip to Winners. Mostly because my husband is already annoyed with what I’ve collected.

I definitely collect notebooks, it’s really quite ridiculous. Monopoly is a firm family favourite here too.
