Plans

A lot of people make 5 year plans, 10 year plans etc. I turned 30 last Thursday and like most people thought “What is life going to be like when Im 35, 40….”

I can only hope what my life will be like. I hope that A and I are happily married with a baby or two. I hope that my blog is growing more successful everyday. I hope that my parents are healthy and happy. I hope that we are in a house we love in a neighborhood we love and happier than ever. I hope A is still doing amazing at his job and loves it more than not.

I think when you think about the future be in a year down the road, or 5 or 10 you can only hope. You can’t plan. Plans are great in the short term but long term you can’t plan out every second.

If I could I would. Im a planner but the more I think about it I just hope for certain things. Not crazy things or unrealistic things just basics.

At the end of the day I want to get in bed and close my eyes knowing that I love hard and strong, that I do my best everyday or at least try to. I want to know that I make mistakes and thats OK because life is full of them.

On this Monday as I sit in my office writing this post I look around and see how far I’ve come since 25. I can only imagine what the next 5 years will bring.

I just try to not let it scare me too much.

I’m definitely a planner too. I have really high anxiety so I feel like if I plan things out then I won’t freak out quite as bad. lol. My husband is the spontaneous one… Instead of clashing really bad about it we actually work together really well. lol! I like to wonder where I will be and what i would be doing in 10 years but my hubby doesn’t let me stress about it.

It often amazes me how much my life has changed over the past 5 years, in ways I would have never imagined. Which makes me both excited and a little nervous for the next 5!

I think making plans is a good thing just don’t get so caught up in it that you don’t live for now. I know I tend to freak myself out thinking about the future. I worry and worry and then I get stuck from all of that anxiety. But, that’s me. I hope you don’t have those issues. 😉

Greg has always told me “a lot can happen in a year.” He’s so right. So if a lot can happen in a year, think about 5! It’s crazy. We are coming up on our 5 year wedding anniversary and it’s insane to think about what has changed (for the better) since then.

That quote speaks volumes. I used to be a BIG planner and don’t get me wrong I do set goals and have plans but definitely try to live in the here and now. Nobody is guaranteed tomorrow.

  8. I’m not much of a planner – but maybe I should start making more plans?

  9. Hope is always a good thing. And I agree that we can’t plan out every minute for the rest of our lives. But a few years ago, I discovered a great book by Barbara Sher called “Wishcraft”. When I read it, I learned (and became convinced) that long-term life planning can be a good thing because it makes you focus on your goals. It’s become my new Bible.

  10. I’ve become more of a planner but I wasn’t always one, I think it comes from dating an incredibly OCD person. The times & things I like planning happen to be the times & things my boyfriend would rather go with the flow about -_- Its frustrating but with all plans, it helps to have some flexibility.

I would have never thought I’d be living in Texas 5 years ago. Haha. I still prefer unlimited possibilities to solid plans 😉

This is all so true! I feel like when I try to plan out my future, there is always some twist that changes everything! But it always ends up working out somehow! I’ve learned to just roll with the punches and make the most of it!

I used to always think about the next big thing. I’ve gotten to a place where I’m content enough that while I might think about it, I don’t put a timeline on it anymore. It will happen when it happens.
