Thanks to Rodan + Fields for sponsoring this post. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I have heard about Rodan + Fields for years. I always kind of brushed it off and thought, nah not for me. However, I did become a little intrigued about their dermatology approach to skincare and I wanted to share a bit about what I learned. No, I am not becoming a Rodan + Fields Independent Consultant, but I am learning more about them and trying some of the products over the next several months.
A Dermatology Approach To Skincare
Let’s start with a little background of the brand. If you are unaware, Rodan + Fields was founded by two dermatologists, Dr. Katie Rodan and Dr. Kathy Fields. They met at Stanford University and together, developed the iconic and well-known acne skincare brand Proactiv®. Later on, when they were both practicing dermatologists, they realized that most people were self-treating skincare issues since not everyone has easy access to dermatologists. They constantly heard their patients list off multi-step routines they were following, but too frequently, they would also hear that they weren’t seeing the results they craved. They wanted to help people address specific core skincare concerns from the comfort of their own home, especially those who do not have access to a dermatologist where they live.
So, what I find really interesting as someone who typically usually uses a lot of products from a lot of different brands is how Rodan + Fields uses a really unique Multi-Med Therapy Approach to skincare through multi-step Regimens that are designed to target main skincare concerns to deliver visible results: visible signs of aging, skin discoloration and dark spots, adult acne and sensitive skin. Basically, you use a “Regimen” designed to address your main skin concern. Within that Regimen, there is a cleanser, a toner, an AM product (including SPF) and a PM product. They also carry supplemental products like eye creams, face serums, etc. to add into your routine to amplify results and address other skin needs.
As Dermatologists, they also learned what systems would be best in treating skincare concerns. So, they created the Multi-Med Therapy approach, which is present in all of the products they launch. According to the brand, the Multi-Med Therapy approach “is the most efficacious, scientifically-demonstrated formulas working together to address skin concerns and maintain healthy-looking skin. It is simply the putting the right ingredients, in the right formulations, with products applied in the right order.”
Every Rodan + Fields Skincare Regimen is powered by Multi-Med Therapy. Since they aren’t able to personally consult with every customer who uses or is interested in using the products at Rodan + Fields, they have a Solution Tool which can help people figure out their main biggest skin concern to focus on. Then, they are given a Regimen suggestion, backed by the Multi-Med Therapy Approach. This means it contains the best ingredients and the best formulations to use in the correct order for their skin needs in order to provide visible results. Each product builds off of the last to help a person get the results they really want. We often look for products with particular ingredients but don’t realize the results aren’t necessarily delivered through only the ingredient. The results come from the effectiveness of the formulation. Because of this Multi-Med Therapy Approach, they find the most success. As with any routine, skincare or otherwise, consistency is key to seeing the results we desire.
I feel like I have learned SO MUCH about skincare in general. I was familiar with key skincare ingredients like Vitamin C, Retinol, Hyaluronic Acid, Peptides, and Benzol Peroxides, but I really wasn’t sure which I needed and what they actually do to the skin. I feel like a lot of us can relate to that. You walk into a store or shop online and click things that sound good or that people recommended without knowing if it truly is suited for our unique skin needs. It’s also not easy to know or tell if the products selected truly work well together or if they aren’t layering in a way that will actually be efficacious to achieve results. Trust me, I do that, too! It’s easy to get caught up in the new trends, but what’s important is to understand what your own skin concern is and what products you need to address it head-on. I feel so much more educated on what my specific skin concerns are, and I really look forward to seeing what a Regimen can really do for me and my skin.
Obviously, I don’t yet know what the results will be, but I think it’s going to be fun! Can’t wait to share my results with you all.
