Books You HAVE To Read This Summer

I talk about books every month in my monthly goals posts, and recently I have gotten a lot of requests for what books I am reading and any recs I have for people. I wrote a post recently about my favorite books from bold women, and today I am giving you the books you have to read this summer. These books are great for flights, beaches, poolside, porch swings, back yard reading, really any time.

Books-You-Have-To-Read-This-Summer-c

I got a few ARC’s (Advanced Reading Copy) of books the past few months, and even though they are not going to be released until later this summer, these books have been so great! I have reviews coming up for It Ends With Us, the latest from Colleen Hoover. If you need a Colleen Hoover fix in the mean time before it’s released, I reviewed two of her books in my Favorite Books of 2015 post.

First Comes Love by Emily Giffin was such a fun book to read. I’m a fan of any book that makes you question what you are taught to be the normal paths to take in life. Her other books are great too, so if you haven’t read any of her books there are seven more waiting for you before this one is released in a few weeks!. I wrote an entire post about One True Loves a few months ago and I have since read it again and honestly I think I loved it more the second time. I have been a huge fan of Taylor Jenkins Reid since I read her first two books on my honeymoon. You won’t be disappointed. The most recent read of mine is Results May Vary by Bethany Chase. I was waiting on this novel and when I got a sneak peak of it I was soooo excited. It is just as good as her first novel. This book follows a woman who’s marriage comes into question and her entire life as she know it changes. It’s really riveting. If you can’t wait for it to be released later this summer then check out her first novel! These are for sure books you have to read this summer. Seriously!

I kept seeing people talking about The Nest and it was on nearly ever article I read on must read books this year. So I caved and bought it and it did not disappoint. It took me about three nights to finish and I really didn’t want to put it down. It follows four adult siblings and reminded me a lot of the show, Parenthood.

The Year We Turned 40 was SO GOOD! I love Lisa and Liz and I read the Status of All Things earlier this year and loved it so I knew I would love this book. Three friends getting to go back to the year they turned 40 to see if they would change anything. Yes, Please!

If you love The Bachelorette and celeb novels and easy reads then Andi Dorfman’s book, It’s Not Okay is for you. It’s a quick, easy read and really interesting. Just remember this isn’t high quality edge of your seat reading. It’s an author who was on The Bachelorette. But it is very enjoyable.

I somehow missed Me Before You until I saw the movie trailer. Then I immediately knew I had to read the book. I think knowing the movie was coming up this summer helped a lot. I haven’t seen the movie yet but I loved the book and I have high hopes. I plan to read, After You after I see the movie. If you plan to see the movie I think this is one of those books you have to read this summer! I mean everyone else is!

Lastly I have always loved Jennifer Weiner books. I am pretty sure I have read them all and while this wasn’t my favorite, it was very very good. Who Do You Love will hook you from the get go. Her books are all great and I have never been disappointed by one. If you enjoy books about chance encounters you will love this.

I hope you guys enjoy these books you have to read this summer. If you do happen to pick one or more of them up please let me know how you enjoyed them! Remember a few of them haven’t been released yet but you can pre-order them on Amazon! In fact if you have the Kindle app and you pre-order them at midnight when they are released they just show right up. Nope, not sponsored I just happen to pre-order a lot of books! I have a post coming up on how to get books on the cheap so be on the look out for that!

What books do you think I should read this summer?

I am currently reading “Me Before You”, because I want to finish it before the movie hits theaters here in Germany.
I will have to look into some of the others though, they all seem very interesting. Oh, if only the day had more hours.

  7. Thanks for sharing! I’m currently reading November 9 by Colleen Hoover and I like it so far, so I’ll have to check out some of her other books. I recently read (and reviewed) After You, which is the sequel to Me Before You and I enjoyed! Excited to see Me Before You as a movie, too.

Question – should I read their other book you mentioned first or are they not related?

    Thanks Neely,

These will be great for the long days of summer. I find myself gravitating toward non-fiction a bit too often during the colder months, so its nice to give my brain a rest with some summertime fiction.

  44. I am always looking for new books to add to my reading list; despite the fact that I have a reading list for graduate school that’s never-ending. I am currently reading Big Magic and I think it’s a fantastic book thus far. I don’t have a ton of new recommendations unfortunately, I need to make more time for leisurely reading this school year.
