Favorite Maternity Basics

I remember when I got pregnant with Liam being SO EXCITED to shop for maternity clothes. They always seemed so fun and cute. Well it took me a LONG time to realize you need to be pretty pregnant to look cute in maternity clothes. At least for me. Now that I am into my second trimester with baby girl I am wearing a few maternity (and some non maternity) basics pretty regularly. Today I am sharing my favorite maternity basics that I think can get you pretty set for a good maternity wardrobe. There are some things I am sharing that are not maternity but work great if you are pregnant. I am also sharing my favorite stores to snag great maternity clothes.

Favorite Maternity Basics

Target: I love Target no matter the occasion. We get most of Liam’s clothes there and I get tons of mine too! Pretty much all of my pajamas are from Target. Their maternity selection, especially online is amazing. I love their basic tanks and denim shorts. I’ve also gotten a few swimsuits there.

Shopbop: I really needed some tanks for barre and working out and I fell in love with the Ingrid and Isabel tanks. They are perfect and cover your butt and go over the bump so easily. Another great bra is the Ingrid and Isabel bralette! It’s under $20 too!

Nordstrom: The Hatch line which is also carried at Shopbop is amazing. It’s a little bit more expensive but worth it. I love these t-shirts especially. I have 3! The Hatch bralettes are also a favorite and so comfy. I love Barefoot dreams cardigans and basically lived in them during my first pregnancy. This pregnancy has been no different. I have a flight in a few weeks and this is for sure what I will be wearing.

Lululemon: I swear by Align leggings pregnant or not. I discovered them during my last pregnancy and wore them NONSTOP! It’s obviously pretty warm outside right now but I wear these for barre, travel, or just around the house. If I get a pullover I usually size up one during pregnancy for a looser fit.

Old Navy: Old Navy is a great place for maternity basics. They have fantastic denim shorts, great hoodies, and amazing sleep and loungewear.

I would love to know what some of your favorite maternity basics are!

I only had a few pieces that were specifically maternity. But, I worked from home so wore comfy clothes and pajamas most of the time. A coworker gave me a “belly band” that I could wear over my regular jeans that allowed me to keep them unbuttoned without others knowing.

I preferred wearing long dresses during my pregnancy. I was in India then. The summers there call for something loss and free flowing! I like your choices tough. Shorts are always comfortable.

  5. We have a new grandbaby on the way and have had a hard time finding the right items for the mom-to-be. We were looking for a pair of black pants for her to wear. I am sending the link to the Align leggings to her today!

Those choices all look comfy and cute. I’ll have to pass this article on to my friends who may be looking for some ideas. I agree, though–Target is a great option for basics for anyone in the family.

I’m hoping that if I get pregnant, I will be able to get away with buying very few maternity clothes. Thankful to have found your post regardless though, as a “just in case” situation. It never hurts to know where to find cute clothes! 😉
