I feel like one area I am an expert in shopping in is gifts for babies and kids! Having one child who is about to turn 5 and one who is almost 2, I have an in with what the kids are into. Plus, I have 2 nieces, a nephew, and we go to one birthday party a weekend on average haha! Below I am sharing just a few ideas (but linking more) for babies and kids 0-5.
Holiday Gift Guide: Babies and Kids 0-5
For babies, I tend to go the more practical route and give clothes, books, and learning toys. Kissy Kissy, Magnetic Me, and Hanna Anderson are my favorite pajamas to give. They are all so soft and cozy. Board books are WONDERFUL I even have an entire blog post on my favorites. Lovevery play kits are another awesome idea because they include age-appropriate Montessori-based toys.
For toddlers, you want to keep them active! Anything outdoors is great. This year one of the kid’s joint gifts from my parents is a playhouse. This is perfect for kids of any age once they are walking. They can do so much imaginative play. We have this bounce house which is a bigger purchase but with the ability to use it indoors ANYTHING by Green Toys is a win. Both my kids LOVE their stuff. This ride-on train has been used at my house for over 4 years now. We have gifted it to many friends’ kids.
Preschool-aged kids up to 5:
My son LOVES Berenstain Bears books so that was the first thing I got him. He also loves these Children’s encyclopedias as well. Magnatiles are his favorite things to play with so a set of those is great. Superheros are big too with all the 5-year-old boys so of course, we had to add a few to our collection. He is very into being active outside so if you have an older preschool-aged child a scooter is a great thing for them.
Do you have any gifts for kids on your list?
Great, simple list – I like that you don’t spend a lot of space telling about a particular gift idea. It’s right to the point.
These are great gift guide round ups and so exciting to shop for kids! 🙂
Great gift selections for my little cousins. Thanks for sharing!
Sounds like your son is into a lot of the same things my boys are. We love Berenstain Bears and just read two of them together before bed. We still have the books that were mine and my husband’s when we were kids, so haven’t had to buy any new ones. And they are getting more MagnaTiles for Christmas this year! Mine also love Legos and Pokemon so they are getting some of that, too.
Such great gift ideas! I’ll have to keep this in mind for the future when more of my friends have kids.

I don’t have kids, but this is super helpful for those that do. Thanks for sharing.
