We just got back from an amazing weeklong vacation in Antigua at our favorite resort. But after a week of indulging in all the poolside drinks, and foods I do not normally eat, plus wearing makeup every day, and lathering my body in sunscreen, I needed a DETOX! I also really like to completely reset after a trip. I wanted to share a peek into how to recover and reset after a vacation so I feel great within just a few days!
How To Recover and Reset After A Vacation
Drink LOTS of water: The biggest thing about travel is you get dehydrated. Not just from flying but when you are having lots of fun on trips you tend to not drink as much. On your flight home, you can start by drinking a TON of water. Dehydration is bad for you all around. It can cause headaches, your skin doesn’t look as good, and your body doesn’t work as well.
Load up on WHOLE foods: Always shop the OUTSIDE parts of grocery stores: fresh fruits, veggies, grains, meats, etc. Put lots of whole good foods into your body. Load up on veggies.
Detox your skin: For me this means several days of no makeup, doing lots of face masks, lots of hydration, and ice rolling.
Do all your laundry and unpack immediately: I always have to fully unpack immediately and do all the laundry. We usually wash everything even if we didn’t wear it after being mixed into the suitcases. Having everything washed and put away, and in its correct spot will make you feel so good!
Commit to sleep: This was NOT something I could do our first night back because we did not get home until 1 AM but the following nights I always commit to being in bed very early and going to sleep early. Your body HAS to get back on its normal schedule.
Do a good workout/get outside: I love to do a really tough workout right away. I worked out this entire vacation but it still feels good to move your body! I also like to go for a long walk outside if possible.
Make a to-do list: For all the other things you need to get done for work, life, etc. Get a list going so you can see what needs to be accomplished! Just doing that will make you feel good!

Sleep is the best way to recover from a long vacation. Also, going for a massage is great.
I also unpack immediately after a trip, it feels so fulfilling to have a task done and just relax after 🙂
I always feel like I need a detox after vacation. I can’t help but try new foods and experiences while on a trip, and I pay for it later.
We like to wash everything after the trip as well. It makes sure clothes are all clean after the actions. Thank you for sharing!
Nnnniiiccceeeee….I sleep a lot more than usual and drink up so much more water!
