A few weeks ago I tore two ligaments in my shoulder/neck ….OUCH! Yes not fun at all.
As someone who loves to workout my first thought was how am I going to stay fit, healthy and sane while I recover from said injury??
I did a lot of research and found great ways to exercise while injured!
How to workout with an injury:
1. Walks: Walking for one hour burns around 315 calories, for me thats great cause Im not hurting my shoulder and I can still get some physical activity.
2. Stationary Bike: At a vigorous pace you can burn up to 500 calories in an hour, also great for should stability.
3. Pure Barre butt and thigh workouts: For a lot of them I dont have to use my left arm I can use my right arm as stability and still get a great thigh and butt workout. This I can do at home as can anyone.
4. Lunges
5. Squats no weights
6. Certain ab workouts. NO plank. But crunches, sit ups(moderate) etc
This is at least what’s I’ve been doing.
Sure It’s not what Im used to and sure its tough to adjust but honestly I think its important to try to be as physically active as you can even if recovering from an injury.
These are all things my Dr has said I can do and have been recommend for me. SO I know they are safe.
Tell me have you ever had to recover from an injury and come up with a new way to work out?

Walking has always been my go to exercise even when I am sick or injured. You get fresh air, sunshine, exercise, and great conversation. I walk with my husband every day so we kill many birds with one stone!
I hope you feel better. These are great tips!! As someone that loves to workout as well, I’m definitely going to keep these tips in the back of my mind (just in case!).
I have a neck disability so my workouts are limited to walking and floor excercises, some pilates . I cannot do anything involving the neck and have to be super careful how I move so walking is the best for me and I have to wear a brace for protection. i race walk for an hour every day then do leg excercises and some Pilates which work great
Poor lady! I hope you feel better soon! AND! Guess what! Pure Barre is opening here in Chicago! WOOHOO!
Ouch! I hope you feel better!
Navigating workouts with an injury was something I never thought about until it happened. Here are a few things I wish I knew earlier: First, listen to your body – pushing too hard can worsen the situation. Second, modify exercises to suit your capabilities; it’s okay to adapt. And third, consult a professional for guidance on safe exercises that won’t aggravate your injury. Learning to workout with caution has been a game-changer for me, and someday, you might need these tips too! 🩹💪 #InjuryWorkout #FitnessJourney
