My Favorite Mom Hack

Liam is almost 10 months old (hold me)! In that amount of time there are things I have learned I need and don’t need and the things that truly help me. Today I am sharing my favorite mom hack and mom must have and all the benefits!

Favorite Mom Hack

A few months ago during a great sale we got an Amazon Echo Dot. We thought about the larger Amazon Echo but the Echo Dot just worked better for our needs. We didn’t need it a TON for music and there were some things that it made more sense than JUST music to have it for.

My favorite things to use the Echo Dot for:

  • Ordering from Amazon: we order everything from diapers, to formula, to pacifiers, to clothes for Liam and pretty much every household item we use. So it’s great to say “Alexa order more diapers” and have it read you your last order. All you do is confirm, it charges your card and boom! Diapers orr whatever else.
  • Playing the same songs: Liam is obsessed with Roar by Katy Perry, no idea why. But if you look in our Alexa history the amount of times Roar is played is probably about 20 a day.
  • Turning on/off the lights and fans: At certain times throughout the day my hands are full holding Liam and I need to turn the lights on the room. When it may be difficult to get up at times, I can simply just tell the Echo to turn on our family room lights.
  • Adding to the shopping list: MY FAVORITE FEATURE! How many times have you been cooking, or wiping a baby butt, or giving a bath, or a million things that require 2 hands and realize “oh crap we are out of salt” or wipes, or bath soap etc. All you do is say “Alexa add wipes to the shopping list” or “Alexa add baby bath wash to the shopping list” or “Alexa add Liam’s yogurt to the shopping list” and it does!!! You can have multiple lists like packing lists, to do lists, etc. This feature has saved us.

Since our Echo Dot is our new BFF, we want to keep it in good condition, enter the Echo Dot Mount from SANUS. One reason we wanted to mount it is I HATE CLUTTER! With the mount we don’t have clutter because it’s on the wall right above our console. To me it’s the perfect spot. I feel like a kitchen wall, a playroom wall, even a bedroom wall would be great. Still trying to convince Andrew we need one in the bathroom for when I’m getting ready!  We have it mounted on our family room wall and you don’t even notice the wire! It took all of 3 minutes to install and requires no tools. Plus it doesn’t affect the sound at all! In fact I think it sounds better! I highly suggest getting one if you have an Echo. They are really helpful and save room! Also, Sanus has Echo Bumpers too! Just in case you have a curious toddler, or you’re clumsy like me!

Before:

After:

Needless to say we are obsessed!

Do you have an Echo? What do you think?

Thank you Sanus for partnering on this post.

I have not tried the Echo Dot, but one of my friends was telling me about hers not long ago. This seems especially helpful for parents! I love the idea that it can play your little ones’ favorite songs.

I never thought about the baby years and toddler years when kids were stuck on one song. I can see how this device can help you so much, especially during the busy baby days!

We don’t have the Ech dot, but we have the full size and you are SO right about the shopping list. We use it also mostly for playing music, the speaker is great quality. I haven’t used it for ordering stuff for Amazon though – I need to try that out.
