Shopping Challenge Update

So remember that Shopping Challenge I did? I didn’t do any unnecessary spending for 2 months from May 1st-June 30th. Yeah it was awesome. OK anyways. Story time…

Back in June Michele the bff and I were at Northpark(Dallas Mall) shopping…well she was I was being tested. We were in Jcrew(my crack) and she was buying a shirt and she was telling the person at the counter about my challenge or we were talking about it and the person asked about it. We filled her in and she was like “Oh you have to let me know if you make it!?” I didnt think anything of it cause how likely is it the salesperson at Jcrew would remember me?

Yesterday I was returning an item purchased online to Jcrew and the girl was working….note I looked a hot mess and wanted to get in and out of Northpark fast without anyone recognizing me. She asked me how it turned out. I couldn’t believe she remembered! She told me I inspired her and her friends to do the same and they were on month 2 and that it had also inspired a few of their other friends to take the challenge.

I was floored.

Here are the reasons:

1. When does a salesperson remember someone for NOT shopping ever?

2. I inspired someone to not shop?

3. I inspired someone to do something?

Lets just say it put a little spring in my step for the rest of the day 🙂

Happy Wednesday!

Have you ever inspired anyone to do something and found out much later?

Damn. That’s awesome! & Congrats on completing the challenge. I went into TJ Maxx yesterday to get a nice soap, and I ended up with the soap, 2 makeup brushes, shampoo, conditioner, & cleansing wipes. I got sucked into the blackhole of a beauty section obvi. I almost bought a $150 bag too but it was damaged… bad bad bad

  3. I believe it’s the little things in life that make the most difference. The fact that you stood there and explained what you were doing and that salesperson took notice of it and was inspired to try it out, you just inadvertantly placed a RAK out into the universe. 😉 (Random Act of Kindness) So cool!!

That is so cool! I don’t think I’ve ever inspired anyone (or if I did they never told me :P) but I have been inspired by others plenty of times!

  7. Being an inspiration is such a high isn’t it! I recently experienced the same thing with a friend that I inspired to take the Whole30 challenge. It was empowering and motivating. Your no shopping challenge may be the next one I take! 🙂

  10. I’ve seen a lot of people doing these and have been considering trying this myself! I’m curious as to what you consider unnecessary? Obviously new clothes are unnecessary and groceries are necessary. But what about buying a bunch of flowers at the grocery store to make your house a little happier? Or that ice cream you want as a treat after dinner?

  11. You inspired me to give up Target. I realized I was spending too much time and wasting money there. It was “let’s go to Target because we’re bored”. Still doing pretty good, I did go in there for school supplies though.
