Staying Healthy on the Road

As someone who is on the go A TON be it traveling or running around for my blog and client meetings I tend to have a lot of meals in my car. It’s really easy to want to stop at a fast food place and just grab something quick even though it’s not the healthiest. You can fool yourself by saying that “kids meal” isn’t THAT bad for you but we all know it probably isn’t great.

I used to love 7-Eleven for snacks when I was a kid. After school slurpees and chips were my jam. But as I got older and started trying to be healthier I went to 7-Eleven less. Although I do love 7-Eleven hot cocoa in the winter. But recently 7-Eleven rolled out some amazingly healthy snacks and meals. This is great for kids after school snacking and someone like myself who is always on the go! It’s also a great addition to road trips. We all know road trip eating is tough.

I love that there is an option for fresh sandwiches, salads, fresh cut fruit, whole fruit, yogurts with toppings, bistro snack packs with mini pitas, cheddar cheese cubes, red grapes, celery, carrots and hummus. ALL OF MY FAVS!

Earlier this week I had stuff all day long: A morning doctors appointment, followed by a workout, a meeting, tons of errands, and another meeting. I was gone from about 7 AM to almost 4PM. Of course I needed to eat somewhere in there. So I headed to 7 Eleven and checked out the healthy foods. I got a Greek Pasta dish, some yogurt and 2 containers of fruit. One of them to eat then and one to eat the next morning on my way to Pure Barre.

The selection WAS AMAZING! I was not expecting so many options. I’m sure the trucker guys and firemen in there for lunch were looking at me like I was crazy while I was inspecting everything and snapping pictures. Oh well the life of a blogger. But seriously they had so much more than I knew. They had tons of salad and sandwich options as well as fresh healthy pastas. They had a lot of snack options like fruit, yogurt, cheeses, veggies etc. Even stuff like babybell cheese, and laughing cow!

I was also impressed that the nutrition facts were easy to find, the prices VERY reasonable, and good quality of food life (IE expiration dates that made you know it was fresh). The salads and pastas had everything broken down so that you could mix together what you wanted.

My lunch was very tasty and left me feeling satisfied and healthy!

From 7-Eleven: Fresh foods are a priority for 7-Eleven as we continue to fulfill our customer’s needs while on the go. We know our customers are looking for healthier fresh food items to fuel their day as well as the more indulgent items they love.

  4. Wow I haven’t tried the healthy stuff yet! But I love that it’s now an option. I hate feeling like I can only grab Combos and Pringles when I’m on the go!

I had no idea 7-Eleven even had a fresh foods section! I know where I’ll be snacking on road trips from now on.

Okay, so this isn’t a healthy option, but I moved as a kid. When I go back home every summer, I go to 7eleven just to get a Slurpee and chili cheese dogs. I would have had no clue about the healthy section. Haha.

For some reason, I’m not sure if my first comment went through. I just thought it was really neat that 7 Eleven has all these healthy options, Unfortunately, we don’t have one near us. 🙁

  12. Well, I’m impressed. I always thought of 7-Eleven as very unhealthy. Delicious, but unhealthy. These options look awesome! Greek pasta salad? Yes please.
