Trying Something New

I am not so great at trying new things. I tend to eat the same foods, go to the same restaurants, and stick to the same workouts. Even with TV shows I am far more likely to rewatch something than start something new. goodnessknows encouraged me to try something new in the first 30 days of 2017 and I want to share with you guys today what I did! Towards the end of my pregnancy due to some “growing pains” I needed to find a workout that was helpful. This meant trying something new. I opted for a new prenatal yoga class at a studio I had never been to.

You guys this was a HUGE deal for me. I always feel really out of place walking into new studios and especially if it’s something I haven’t done before. I had taken prenatal yoga throughout my pregnancy but not at this studio. Here are a few tips for trying new workout studios:

  • Show up early
  • Introduce yourself to the instructor
  • Talk about your limitations (with health or injury)
  • Ask questions
  • Do your research beforehand
  • Bring everything you need
  • Don’t worry!

Being prepared is key! If you show up late, or don’t bring the right items it can stress you out. This is why I always do a lot of research and sometimes even call to ask questions before I go. You will be glad you took the extra steps.

I really loved the class and I have been back a few times since. I also loved that it gave me some ideas of yoga exercises I could also do at home which I have been loving. It’s so great that I stepped out of my comfort zone and tried something new that has really turned out being helpful during the days of sore backs and muscle aches. Trying something new really is a great thing!

After a good yoga session, snacks are necessary. Especially at this stage of pregnancy, but really when am I not snacking? I tend to reach for goodnessknows which if you’ve been following my blog you’ve heard me rave about many times. goodnessknows wants to encourage and celebrate every attempt on the path to greatness – no matter how small or imperfect – because even if you fail, every try is a step to a better you. That’s where trying new things comes into play!  Commit to the path to greatness with goodnessknows this year by choosing something you want to do for the first time and try it within the first thirty days of 2017. This could mean a new workout class like I did, or maybe it’s a new recipe or even a new career!

goodnessknows is divided into four snackable squares per serving – all for 150 calories. Hands down the best low guilt snack out there. goodnessknows snack squares are nestled in a layer made with dark chocolate, and one individual, two-bite square contains approximately 40 calories. In addition to being delicious, goodnessknows is gluten free. They are currently available nationwide in these flavors:

  • Cranberry, almond, dark chocolate
  • Apple, almond & peanut, dark chocolate
  • Peach & cherry, almond, dark chocolate

But starting this month you can get them in these flavors too:

  • Blueberry, almond, dark chocolate
  • Mixed berries, almond, dark chocolate
  • Strawberry, peanut, dark chocolate

However will I choose?

Trying something new and self-improvement are things that I am always trying to become better on. I encourage all of you to try something new this year too!

What is one new thing you want to try in the next 30 days?

  1. Those bars sound delicious. I love how they use dark chocolate. Also, I am so scared of trying new things especially a workout class. Thank you for the tips.

I have been saying that I want to get back to yoga but for some reason I just keep putting it off. It has so many health benefits and it’s a wonderful way to reduce stress. I started when I was pregnant and I used to love it. I’m putting it back on my To Do list for the end of the week. Thanks for the inspiration!

  12. These look yummy! I am similar in that I could eat the same thing every day! (Seriously, if I ate a 6 inch subway sandwich for lunch every single day, I’d be perfectly content!)

This month, I’m hoping to try new-to-me fitness classes also. There isn’t much variety out here in this rural town so I need to be comfortable with putting myself out there because sometimes it’s the only things that’s available!

  13. Those look yummy! I’ll have to have some around for my on-the-go days!

I’ve challenged myself to a new adventure each week this year, because like you I am way more comfortable doing the same ole thing! Check it out at my blog, if you’d like! So far, I’ve been to new restaurants, went berry picking with my mom, went to see Dancing with the Stars…so far, it’s been a lot of fun!

I am so bad at being late to things, but I learned for my Yoga and Barre classes, being early makes a HUGE difference. Also, eating the right snack before hand that gives me energy without making me feel too full before class is major. I’ll have to check those bars out! They look so yummy!

  23. First off, I feel you on the new studio thing – it’s intimidating, especially when there are all the regulars already there.
Second, those bars look SO GOOD! I need to try ’em ASAP!

  30. I can be content eating the same thing day after day, as long as that thing is in my list of favorite food. I know yoga has a lot of benefits, however, I have not yet convinced myself to get into a class. I always think I am too old for it. I support change, but I am really slow to adapt. I might try these bars too. I am currently eating a different brand but I am willing to try these Goodness Knows bars soon.
