Valentine’s Day is a fun great day to spend with someone you love. Be it your significant other, family or friends, it should be about showing and sharing love, not about who can spend the most money. I remember having boyfriends in high school and college who felt the need to make it a huge deal with extravagant dinners, roses, chocolates etc. Valentine’s day on a budget can be very easy to achieve.
Thankfully Andrew shares my views, and we are more about making things for each other and staying on budget. A big part of that is Valentine’s falls smack dab in the middle of the holiday season and then both of our birthdays in April. We would much rather do big things to celebrate our birthdays than Valentine’s. As such, this year we are planning to see a movie on Saturday night before Valentine’s and cook at home on Valentine’s Day.
This year since we just got back from a big trip where we ate ALL THE FOODS, we are sticking to something easy: salads and a pasta dish. We LOVE Bertolli Pasta Sauces, and the Bertolli® Five Cheese sauce is one of our favorites. This is a meal we make often, so what makes it special on Valentine’s is cooking it together and taking the time to turn off TVs, put away phones and computers, and enjoy the meal together with no distractions. That doesn’t happen all the time in our house.
We love Bertolli® Five Cheese because the taste is AMAZING! It’s very budget friendly and it brings the meal up a notch over any other sauce we’ve had. Bertolli® is celebrating 150 years, so let’s all celebrate with them by enjoying a fun, easy and fabulous dinner. Even if it’s not for Valentine’s!
Check out Bertolli® on Facebook and Tumblr.
What are your favorite ways to celebrate Valentine’s Day?
The husband always wishes I’d make pasta more often, so I know he’d be happy with a meal like this! We will probably go out for a meal for Valentine’s–something awesome about Malaysia is that as long as you eat local food, going out to eat is very inexpensive. If you wanted a steak, though, that’s a whole different matter, haha!
My fiance and I told each other we were not going to get each other anything this Valentine’s day… but of course, he just told me that we have PLANS on Valentine’s day… Which means he has scheduled something… Which to me, is a GIFT… So now I must go find him one! lol
Great idea. Hubby and I usually just have a low key at home celebration
We’re always on a budget. Great idea for VDay
My husband and I aren’t huge inValelntine’s Day either. We usually make dinner at home or do something fun a different weekend to celebrate because we both hate crowds and waiting at restaurants for tables.
I love the idea of cooking and eating together – simple and romantic! Thanks for sharing!
You are speaking my language! I love when it’s just about being together.
Simple is best! Dirty dishes can be a real mood killer… amiright?! I’m planning on spag too 🙂
Sounds great! My husband and I are really similar in how we think about the holiday. We decided we just wanted to go see the latest Star Wars again, and keep things simple!
I love spaghetti and Bertolli sauce! So tasty! My boyfriend is Italian so he likes when I cook Italian meal! Thanks for sharing such interest and useful post!
you can’t go wrong with pasta! it’s the best dish for any occasion
